shoe polish?

Yeah, on the spit shining we usually put 3 or 4 good thick layers of kiwi, let them cure overnight each, then finish off with cottonballs(with a small dab of polish) and ice water for that mirror "you can actually shave with it" shine. After the base coats are done you usually don't have to do them again, unless theres a deep scratch or what have you.
 
Leather Luster cracks after three to five years, tho not badly. It shines back up well with Kiwi and waterproofs what it covers. Seems to work best on the toe caps and heels on Corcorans.
 
In the army we had a special cloth that I cant seem to find anywhere now called a Sylvette. All the guys in the Guards (Irish, Welsh, Coldstream etc) use them. Its a little soft like velvet but it works a treat, though they get better as they are used. Some surplus places in the UK might have them, this is of course if you are looking for the best shine you can get.
