My impatience has done it to me again. I tried to contour the handle on my Nessie Skinner, (my second knife) and I screwed up the handle. Anyways do you guys have any suggestions on how I should proceed on fixing it. My Craftsman 2x42 removes micarta like there is no tommorrow.

Here are the specs 1/8 ATS34 heat treated at TKS, brass pins and lanyard tube, 7 1/2" OAL, Blade is 3 7/8"

Comments please. Good or bad.

keep sanding, the handle looks a bit thick anyways.

Just play with it and see what happens. Some of my more interesting designs happened because of "mistakes"

I use a 1/2 round coarse file. This way it removes a little at a time and you can make adjustments as you go.

yeah, big thing is to keep the piece moving while sanding...take it down a bit and you should be able to blend that decently

You know you CAN file micarta right? lol

Put a couple of wraps of duct tape around the blade and thin the handle.

This is hard to explain but if you drew a line from the finger notch to the top of the spine where that "divot" is and rounded it off from the finger notch to about 1/3 of the way up the handle where your finger would fit in....

Biggest thing that most people make with knives is in the handle treatment.... thick isn't in.... slender and rounded is nice, rounded off triangle shapey thingies are nice.

Looks very nice though :)

When I really screw something up --I say well I will have to take it off anyway.so I start fileing or grinding just to see what I can come up with.
You'll be surprised.

I really screw up alot

Do that same thing near the end and same on the other side and you'll have some contour.

Like what has been said above work away at it some more and see what you can come up with. Always cover your blade with tape when shaping your handle.
