Shooting results 2007

Nice shooting, Porkus! Target shooting is, truly, a great tradition. Here we like to remind anti-gunners the Swiss people have good rifles and know how to shoot them!

This site has a few fun things to say about Swiss shooting:

There is a story, possibly apocryphal but awesome nonetheless, that a ranking German (possibly the Kaiser) was visiting and watching the Swiss military on their summer maneuvers. He asked the Swiss commander, "How big a force do you command?"

The Swiss general confidently replied, "I can mobilize one million men in twenty-four hours."

The German asked, "What would happen if I marched five million men in here tomorrow?"

The Swiss replied, "Each of my men will fire five shots and go home."

The K31 packs a kick. It fires a 7.5 mm Swiss round that is expensive, because it only comes from Switzerland and it's only available in match grade. There is no non-match grade Swiss Ammo. Swiss soldiers don't miss. This is why they've never had to demonstrate the fact. Invaders fear a mountain range full of snipers.

Hell of a shot, I can barely hit a target from 30 meters, got to have some pretty steady hands to shoot that straight. By the way what kind of knife is the black one in the picture with the gun and the wine? it looks quite nice

Excellent shooting! It's always fun to go out and basically shoot against yourself to try and improve your skills each time. The fun never ends.

One minute of angle at 300 yards on a military rifle with open sights is better than good--it's friggin' AWESOME!!!

What is the nature of that rear sight? It looks too large to be a peep/aperture, but the front one is clearly of the globe type. I have a couple target-style apertures (Lyman 48 and Hale-Parker match), but that one looks serious.

We shoot at 300 meters only, no scopes allowed, military rifles only. On good days I get 9's and 10's. The 10 is a 2 1/2 circle so I try for 5 inch groups but I guess some are as tight as 3 or 4". We never see the results on the target but rather on a screen because they are electronic targets and the results show as a number between 0 and 10 or 0 and 100. 100 is dead centre and you can win money when you get them. I got four 100's this year. Helped pay for my need ! :D

Porkus, my friend--Well done and congratulations on a fine year.
The medals are beautiful, and with that ability, are clearly well-deserved!!
How excellent to make INFI money doing something you love.
My hat is off to one fine, and very talented HOG!!

Outstanding! One of your medals looks like the Virgin Mary is aiming in.:thumbup:

RBMCMJR, The rear site is made by Grunig & Elmiger as an upgrade specially for this rifle and I use a diopter made by Gehmann in Germany. Same for the front site which as you see is several inches ahead of the folded down original again increasing accuracy. These upgrades make quite a big difference to an allready very accurate if not cumbersome rifle. Back in army days most people would tell you that "The rifle usually got off the truck first" !!! The 7.5X55 round is also very accurate. These rifles can be had in Switzerland for anything between $200 and $400 and its still possible that some people will give them away to get them out of the house. The upgrade in sights costs abiut 3 or 4 times what you will pay for the rifle itself. I have difficulty calling it an assault rifle because its so heavy but it perfectly suited the Swiss Army which has never had anything but defensive tactics anyway. Hide up in the mountains and shoot down the invaders !! They remain very accurate as long as they have never fired grenades. I like the filters in the diopter especially the orange for afternoons and the blue and grey in the morning.

Now just to get back on the Busse track. I would just love Jerry to get inspired by this handle (the fat rubber one, not the skinny one)for a new knife. He could call it the BADWOC ....Busse Alpine Defense Weapon Of Choice. How about it Jerry ? Would be a great tribute to a fine ole shootin iron ! ;)
