I think the title sums this up.

My AK arrived today, apparently after a short stop over for a customs inspection.

What can I say, I have a pair of GH Khukuris (Bhojpure and WW2 - which are excellent knives BTW) but this makes them look like pocket knives by comparison -- its huge.

not so much in length but the sheer width and weight of the blade.

This is also my first 'real' HI Khukuri, not counting my now dwarfed Villager. This was a special order I got off Bill with an inscriprion on the blade, the quality of the workmanship and finish is excellent.

Funnily enough this Khukiru feel like it has been made for me, it just sits in my hand and becomes part of my arm, for all is weight and size it just feels "alive". The handle is a perfect fit, unlike my other khuks' this one will not need any work or re-shaping.

I can't stand the wait before I can get out bush and give it a try. Hopefully this weekend.

Andre

P.s. Bill, the first payment is on its way.

Hi Andre:

I thought you'd like that knife. Makes the others look a little puny, doesn't it.

The 18" AK is my favorite too! I'm 6' and 190 lbs. This khukuri has just the length and weight to be satisfying.

The night I got mine, I had this terrifying nightmare. (I don't have nightmares that's why it's terrifying). In it I ran around the house looking for a weapon. There were many choices including several khukuris.

And like Bruce Willis in "Pulp Fiction" who went from baseball bat, to chainsaw, to katana -- I ended up with the 18" AK. At which point I immediantly calmed down and took care of business. It just has a magical psychologic calming effect.

Another one who likes the
"Worlds Best kuhkuri" at least IMO it is.

I believe the 18th Century is becoming a close 2nd though.Mine takes an even better edge than the 18"AK and that is saying a lot!!

Yvsa, remember we now have about 5 kamis in the 70 to 80 year old category in shop 2. After you do it for 60 or 70 years you get pretty good!

I just hope the youngsters are watching and listening.
