My shop was 12' X 24' and getting pretty crowded. As I am retiring from my government job Sept. 1, I decided an addition was in order.
The addition is 8' X 24', and will be separated from the grinding/polishing room by a door. It's not fancy, and is not my dream shop, but the additional room will be nice. Here are some construction pictures.

Looking good Bill, congratulatins on your retirement. I'm a government employee myself, I have about 6 years to go, give or take a month or two.

An air conditioner! I can tell you're focusing on what's important Bill! :)

Enjoy your retirement!

Well, it was 107F here today. I have another window unit that I might install. The South is hot!!

Congratulations on the retirement. I retired from the USPS in November of 2008 and since then I have stopped my blood presure meds and the cholesterol meds!

Thanks for all the congratulations!
Not sure exactly how it will be laid out, but this will be my "clean room." My workbench will be in there, a sink, lots of shelving, my plating bench, an engraving bench, and possibly a large desk.
Gotta paint the inside white first.

bill, are you setting up a dust control system? remember phillip pattons dust collection system he posted pictures of?

The existing shop already has a dust collection system. I plan to improve it.

Ordered a cool little mini refrigerator for the addition.
Walmart- $58 delivered!

A little more work on the interior.
Plumbing stubbed, trim added, bench material acquired.

All of the work done in this side will be done while sitting, so all benches will be at desk top height.
