Shop addition

Nicw work, Bill. That was a smart move going 8 x 24 so you can build a lot of the big parts of the addition using sandard sized lumber with minimal cuts.

Carpenter has been having truck problems. He showed up today, and blew in the attic insulation.
I think Ms. Debbie is going to paint the inside in a few days. Great wife!

Bill,

I pictured you more of a neat freak like me, but that desk just shattered that illusion! :D

Redrummd,
I like things neat, but after 2-3 days that's what it looks like! The new addition is designed to be neater and cleaner.
Ms. Debbie will be painting today.
Maybe more pics tomorrow.

Bill,

I pictured you more of a neat freak like me, but that desk just shattered that illusion! :D

He's working on it, he's working on it...

Give the man a chance :D

Let's see, I've either got another 9, 14, or 17. Depending on who you ask. I've got 11 in so minimum of 9, but 14 would give me 25 yrs. 17 would give me 20 covered and 9 not. I don't know. By the time it comes around we'll probably never be able to retire anyway.

But get on it man. When I do retire I'm gonna hit you up for a made-it-to-the-"Great Escape" knife.

Congratulations: Now all you have to do is start planning on your next addition!
I have found no shop is big enough, at least for me. No matter the size it will be a good second home, I wish you the best.

Ed,
I know. This one is stop-gap until the real estate market picks up-and I'm able to get out in the country and build the real shop.
Thanks, everyone. Only 10 more working days!

Latest pics.

Now thats a clean shop. Bets on how long it stays that way? Anyone? Yes, Im jealous, I wish I had even half that space.

Super nice Bill.Great clean room.Im thinking you keep the grinding and buffing out of the new addition.Congrats on the retirement!

Thats a clean "clean room" with all the comforts of home. You're going to be happy there until the new shop in country comes along. Is that an engraving block? If so, I'm jealous. Also isnt that an engravergraph in the other room? What do you do with it? I have one but never played with it, yet anyway.

Bruce,
Thank you.
Yes, it's an engraving block, and we have a couple of Hermes machines. We just use them for general work-marking blades, doing custom work. They are pretty versatile little machines. Ms. Debbie does most of the machine engraving. I do the hand work. I have a couple of N Gravers, and a GRS system 3. Haven't done much engraving in the last few years. Now, I expect to have more time-having retired from my full time job.
Most of my work is in the repair and restoration business, but that allows me to do many things-engraving, plating, fabrication, etc. You and I are kindred sprits, following different-but similar paths.

Got the engraving bench set up today-air lines run for the System 3, and the NGraver is set up. Pics soon.

Pics of the engraving bench, and Ms. Debbie's desk with the pantograph machine.
I'll be upgrading and adding more lighting to the hand engraving bench.
