Shop Music

Justin you are right about apocalyptica. They rock! I've been listening to them for days now. Lots of great songs. My favorites are the ones without vocals... Ive been into nightwish for a while. Got any other good suggestions for symphonic power metal without vocals? Or great vocals? Just ok vocals won't do. Dream Theater, Cake, Lacuna coil, the cramps, the ramones, vai, malmstein, tenacious D are all on the ipod in the shop, just to name a few current favorites.. We listen to pretty much everything...

There is always lots of Judas Priest and Iron Maiden playing in my shop. Like I said in a thread recently, I need metal to inspire me to work metal!

I listen to lots of other stuff in the shop as well. Most recently that has included:

Dropkick Murphys
Drowning Pool
3 Inches of Blood
AC/DC
The Four Horsemen
High on Fire
Clutch
Toadies
Type O Negative.......

The list could go on forever! I love music and I work much more efficiently and continuously when it's playing in the background. Great thread:thumbup:

Great stuff there, Clutch, Jesus on the dashboard.... I love it! Toadies too, I'm a huge fan, still rock their first album a bunch! I'll have to check out a couple you listed I haven't heard because I like everything you listed that I know about. I've played drums in heavier bands like that too, my kind of style.

Nice to hear it Daniel:thumbup: I like everything from Buddy Holly to Johnny Cash to Sheryl Crow and the Cranberries, even some classical and big band stuff....but my true calling has always been METAL:D

Of the ones I listed I would suggest High on Fire big time! They don't disappoint. Also, Early Man is killer. A couple of young kids who grew up in very sheltered homes and were never exposed to rock music until they moved out just a couple years back. They discovered Metallica, Exodus, Megadeth, Anthrax and what not and they just went nuts for early speed metal. They are now a big part of an 80's thrash revival and have a couple albums and a couple EP's out. They're on itunes. Gotta give 'em a listen:thumbup:

I have my Bose surround system, ten speakers and the sub installed in my shop, driven by a Technics tuner. Regardless of what equipment I have running, the music is clear as can be.

Hooking up the Ipod, everything from Godsmack, Disturbed, Frank Zappa, Phish, Pantera, Metallica, Megadeath, Clapton, Eric Johnson, several Country artists, etc.. Basically, anything but Rap!

That sounds sweet, I have heard one of those Bose 10 speaker setups and I was very impressed. Technics rocks too, they make nice turntables also.

I'm rocking an old Pioneer tuner but for speakers I have Yamaha NS-10's, the legandary studio mixing speakers, you can truly hear everything.

Nice choice of music there, I actually have at least one cd by everyone you listed!

I don't know how I got back into rap, hadn't listened to it for years until recently... oh yeah little wayne on weezer's new album started the whole rap thing back up... I do remember break dancing to Greandmaster Flash and the Beastie Boys first album when it came out so I liked it then, lol.

If it don't go twange,it ain't my thang.
Just 50-60's beer joint country.
Stan

For me it's bluegrass when cutting and sanding.
That way I can sing along and the machinery drowns out the sound of my bad singing if anyone walks by. After a couple hours I start talking with a Southern accent as a side effect though. I grew up in Florida, South Carolina and Virginia as a kid. Haven't been there in over 20 years but it doesn't take much to bring the accent back. Or as some of you might say, "start talking right again".

I play Country Western on a radio hanging on a nail by the sander.
But when I am really doing some serious work I don't have the radio on but just let the music play in my head.

Mahavishnu Orchestra
Medelski Martin and Wood
Weather Report
Billy Cobham
Brecker Brothers
The Philadelphia Experiment
RH Factor
Frank Zappa
Earthworks

Oh.... Check out these guys.... I find the drummer to be rather intoxicating and manly... lol.

I just listened... I think I'm going to go buy their stuff! Wow.

Holy crap I got a leg cramp watching that..... I guess that's another workday gone.... need to woodshed some doublebass chops, now.

I like a wide range too. The last couple years I have got attached to internet radio. A 3 dollar cable from ebay hooks the computer to my stereo. My favorite aolradio.com, they let you skip the song if you don't like it without changing channel. , you don't have to be an AOL customer. and I also like last.fm pick somebody you like and it plays their music and other music like them, if you don't like a group you can tell your radio to never play them again.

Rick I learn something new about you every day! that is one in the positive direction :D

Eye of Charm sounds good, I guess the band is no longer together?

Our distribution label (Koch/Nevada) went belly up and all our CDs were pulled from the shelves and frozen with all their other assets. With no album sales, our videos (we made 4) were no longer being aired on MuchMusic/Mtv. We toured a bit in Eastern Europe and it felt like we were rock stars..... awesome experience.
