Hey all,
I took some pics around my shop in black and white. Something about machinery in B&W looks badass, IMHO. Not a traditional shop tour here...

Two parts, 7 pics each.

Enjoy!

Nice use of lighting, would be interesting to see some shop photography done in IR, especially during forging! The 4th shot first post and 3rd shot second post are exceptional.

Awesome photos! I love the old school WWII era machinist vibe you get from looking at these. Nice job!

I grew up with that saying. Thought it was gospel until I hitch-hiked out of town in '75 and found out other folks elsewhere didn't have it on their plates. Go figure...

Thanks everyone! I'm just a hack photographer so I'm pleased how they came out!

Dave,
The Bridgeport is awesome! I love it. I use it all the time for varying tasks both knife and non-knife related. It's a gorgeous piece of American history and machinery that will outlast me and I'm glad to own it!

1234567890,
I actually store all my beer brewing stuff under my bench and use the curtain to keep as much dust out of the boxes as possible and to keep light off the fermenting beer.

If someone did a black and white photo book of various mechanical hammers, not just LG, but all the odd ones that you don't see often ' I bet it would sell a few to this crowd.

I see the beauty in some of the real close ups, like the Bridgeport ball, and the box of collets all arranged in the same way,

but I also want to see the machines as a whole too.

123,
I totally agree. There's absolute beauty in some of this machinery and an attention to detail that is rarely produced these days.

Reminds me of the pics of old industrial factories where the guys are all standing before giant machines with open belts and safety was something you hoped you didn't learn by losing a limb or your life. Cool pics!

Very cool photos. Bet ya could sell some of em. The only one that didn't work for me was the stag. i think that one would have to be in color. I like the closeups....more "artsy" maybe.
