Dear Yangdu didi,

Shop Puja short description –

Kmai’s made this puja for their safety.

In Hindu ritual “Bishwa karma Baba” is the God of any kind of operating machines and their tools and also believe that without blessing to this God starting and doing work is not successful.

According to this believe these Kamis are new for the Shop and Machines, they made this Puja for preventing unnecessary hazard and opstecal in future and also for their safety work environment.

Thank you,

Rajesh

I have received these Shop Puja pictures from shop manager Rajesh.

Yes it is Chiruwa handle Tarwar.

Thank you for showing us the pictures, goes to prove one of many reasons why I support HI: keeping traditions and culture alive in an industrialised world.

Thanks for the pictures Yangdu. I'd like to see some of Sgt. Khadka and the kamis after drinking some Rakshi. I'll bet there are smiles all around. Its good to hear that the Sgt. is around. I hope he's making some good khukuris for us.

That was a very nice post, it is great to be able to see everyone there happy and smiling.
I assume Rakshi is some manner of strong drink? What is id made from and what does it taste like?

You guys and your Chiruwa stuff are missing what these posts are about... they show is a little of Kami life.
I really love it when Yangdu does a post like this and tells us a little more about what things are like there in Nepal. :D

The Kamis are enjoying their praying a bit together with the food and Rakshi...

Are those pics taken on the 2nd floor of the shop,Auntie?

So, I ordered a custom chiruwa Tarwar...I wonder if that's mine? These pictures are great! Thank you for sharing this culture with us! Yangdu, are they making extra chiruwa tarwars or is that the only chiruwa being made?

:D Always love these pictures. It's the next best thing to a visit to Nepal.

Thanks for taking us inside the shop, AY.

I definitely appreciate what the pictures are about and am definitely a fan of the tradition that survives in the workshop, but i'm first and foremost a fan of design. In my opinion, (and i hate the term IMO, IMHO, etc. because it's obviously my opinion if i'm stating something subjective) the chiruwa design is a better design than hidden tang.

Rakshi is Sherpa moonshine. On my last trip trip to Nepal in 2008 I sampled various forms of this Nectar of the Gods. It is first made from a rice and special yeast from Nepal that is fermented for months until it arrives at it's perfect state that is called Chang. Then Yangdu, distills the rice Chang with an distillery pot to make the wonderfully Rakski. It takes 3 or 4 processes of distillery the complete the process. But the first and second batch is the most potent, getting more less potent after each batch. When this Nectar of the Nepali people is distilled to perfection it will light to a beautiful blue flame and be poured into shot glass.
