on another thread i saw someone mention something about not wearing gloves while working in the shop , well i know why now .it's 11:30 pm texas time and i just got home from having what was left of my left thumb sewn back together. i had a 2in. cylinder of brown canvas micarta about 30in. long ,was making some scales ,planeing one side flat and my glove hung in the planer blade.hurt like hell, and now my thumb is gone from the knuckle to the end.and worst of all i have some blades i really needed to finish.any way please guys be carefull and watch what you are doing because it dosen't take long to really screw up

Rookie:

That's a bummer. Sorry to hear about your accident. Good of you to post it so the rest of us can learn from an actual event. Take care.

Down a digit, eh? Bummer. Weird, man...I was just giving a shop tour to my sister this weekend, and explaining all of the dangers...
