Hello,
I have recently entered the world of knifemaking!
I have previously done a lot of messing around with bits of steel and old files with a bench grinder and called the results knives.
Now I am really interested in learning more about the craft and making higher quality blades.
I was wondering what y'all's shop setup is like and what method you use to make your knives (Forging, stock removal, etc.)
Also, quality tools at a low price? (belt grinder)
I would love to see some of your work too!
Any input is very appreciated!!!
Thanks
BWB

Go to the stickies at the top of the page. There are as well, forums here on all sorts of aspects of knife making. Start having a read on those. Your question is so huge as it is.

Update your location and you may could get a shop tour of a maker near you. The stickies have most of the info your looking for but if you can't find something let us know. Welcome to shoptalk.

In the beginning, go stock removal. Get a good grinder and a good drill press. That combination is the start of almost every knife shop. Place them on opposite ends of the workbench. It won't be long before the space between them is filled with all sorts of other tools, supplies, and gadgets.

Use the Google search engine in the stickys to search shop equipment, ultimate shop, shop equipment list, etc.
