Shop trick, hands-free drilling.

I am going to use it today... out of the scope of the mod... and I swear, if I get hurt, I'm coming to your neck of the woods for a few weeks of hop therapy.

Make sure, when you use it recklessly, to be drilling a thin item with a sharp burr on the edge, and preferably try to force the bit farther right as you're breaking through the work. Extra points if you lose actual chunks of yourself or hit bone! Pics or it didn't happen.

Please though, there's no need to go through all that, you are always welcome to come visit regardless of recent physical trauma.

Oh Jesus Christ, the safety patrol is showing up now? I guess not everyone is seeing the utility or the specific scope of this mod.
IT"S NOT FOR EVERYDAY CLAMPING. We have clamps for that. Wait until the day you need this, then you'll understand.
Do you people know how many holes I've drilled? Dude, I know about drill press dynamics. I've had the accidents to learn, and seen them happen to others.

Rant off.

Sorry if I pissed you off. It wasn't my intention. I've just been taught to clamp my work down and that the feedback you get through the handle is important. I'm curious, how many holes do you think you've bored? I had an employee that by himself drilled 33,000 one inch holes on a job I had. I'm sure he would have liked a foot pedal.

It's all good man, I was being grumpy anyway. Been working long hours toward a deadline, and I have a 2 month old baby as well!
You're right, feedback is important and you don't get any through the pedal. Again, more for marking rather than through-drilling in metal.
I've been that employee, at places. I'm not sure whether I've drilled more holes making knives or fabricating, but it's tens of thousands I reckon.
It was nice having a big Clausing with downfeed for some of those big holes in fab shops! Gotta really clamp for that.

almost everything in my shop can decapitate me lol we all know the risks and do it anyway, I test out my bleeding skills at least once a week! my wife is 6 days overdue so im expecting chaos pretty soon!

Oh dude, good luck to you! Only thing better than being a knifemaker is being a knifemaking dad!
... and the only thing better then being a knifemaking dad is being a knifemaking granddad. You get to send them back to their parents when you're done playing with them. :D
