Shop Tunes

I have XM radio subscription and use it in my car. The satellite receiver is an Inno Pioneer receiver that will actually record the XM signal and allow you to take it with you and play it later. It's about the size of an ipod. I just hook it up to the sound system in my shop and let it play. Satellite radio is awesome...

I have an ipod kickin all the time from mounting deer to making knives 30g ipod was the best money my parents ever spent on me. Mainly i listen to southern hardcore (Norma Jean, Chariot, as cities burn, August burns red, sohpia, gun powder treason) This is weird but I listen to tons of country to any from waylon Jennings to kenney chesney

My shop radio picks up one station...a country station thats 3 miles down the road. I don't care for country much so not much music going on. I gotta find a way to get my XM hooked up down there!

Clan na Gael (now called Seven Nations - old friends of mine) , Charlie Daniels, Ray Stevens. Sometimes the Brandenburg Concertos.

I don't have a shop but when I am on here I listen to classic country on the internet. The website is countrylegends971.com.

What, no Verdi?

I listened to "Four Seasons" earlier this week. :)

I like instrumental music; a mix of classical, fingerstyle guitar, New Age and a little "lounge" electronica when I am sitting working "quiet". I find vocals distracting, too "left brain".

I usually don't play any rock in the shop as it distracts me, personally; plus, I can't hear well over the sound of the machines anymore. That doesn't mean I don't like it...this week seemed to center on 70's funk compilations and even one labeled "100% Disco". Music of our longhair years, minus the doob. :D

All cd's...we have a collection of perhaps 2500 that spans the spectrum, though country is mostly absent. I am an ardent devotee of Santana. There's a Spock's Beard, Tool, and even a Limp Biskit in there. Shop music is played on a cheapo $250 bookshelf system.

I listen to alot of metal. I like bands like Vintersorg, Storm, Dragon Lord, Therion, Otyg...
The Scandanavian stuff is the best. I have no idea what they are singing about most of the time its not in English but it makes me think of vikings going to war. I want to make knives whenever I hear it. Plus the stuff thats not in english is less distracting as I do not think about what they may be saying. I am suprized to see people here like Spocks Beard how about Dream Theater or any other prog rock bands?

Nancy and I sat here recently and watched all the Dream Theater vids on YouTube. Exceptional musicians, all; tighter than a frog's ass.

A whole lot of what we simply called "rock" back in the early 70's would probably be called prog rock today, what with the likes of early Genesis, Pink Floyd, ELP, King Crimson, Hawkwind, Touch, Steamhammer, Armageddon, Jethro Tull, Kansas, Yes, etc. Now they're old, I'm old, and everyone just calls it "classic rock". It set the stage for what was to come, though. Complex music that wasn't just three chords and a chorus.

Nowadays I don't know so much about it, though a couple years ago I bought SB, DT, and a couple Ozric Tentacles along with a couple others just for grins.

IT just depends on the mood. I have a CD mp/3 player with radio. Looking forward to getting a sirius or xm reciever for the shop. Right now there is everything from Styx, Meatloaf, Chris Issaks, Suzy Boggus, Allison Krause, Dire Straits, Mary CHapin Carpenter, Tommy Emmanuel, Buddy Guy, etc. A bit of everything. And some radio every once in a while.

Mostly when I hit the shop I just pop the radio on to the classic rock station that plays all the same songs every day...just a medium din of plain rock music in the background. Then when I realize I am so compleatly board out of my skull with it I start going thru cd's....when I'm done with those I will hit the "vault" and pull out a casset tape! I used to have a great record shop near me that had a bargin bin of cd's....always came out with something good and or obscure.
When I forge it's almost always Zeppelin....LOUD!:D

King Crimson rocks. That's one of my Dad's favorites. Love that band.:thumbup:

I burn CDs and play them in a cd player in the shop. The music includes Guns N' Roses, Motley Crue, Judas Priest, Jefferson Airplane, Rob Zombie, Ozzy, Korn, Kiss, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Pink Floyd, and many others.

Another XM Radio addict here! I can't stand commercials (on Tv or the radio) so its the only way for me. My Skyfi Dephi receiver goes with me to work, in my truck and car, the house, and in the shop.

My two favorite stations are Squizz and Boneyard. With those two stations I can listen to old rock or brand new rock. Boneyard has lots of Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Dokken, etc, etc.

Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, Pantera, and the local classic rock station when I do not have the Ipod plugged in. But mostly Cannibal. They talk about A LOT of knife usage:eek:.
