This is just the most recent example . I see this kind of weird review commonly .

2 out of 8 reviewers are PO'd because they ordered a plastic knife that actually is plastic !

Other such issues involve a knife too large and heavy , small , from a bad country or materials etc etc .

Obviously , these jokers are ordering based solely on the ad photo spread and can't be bothered to even scan the specs let alone perform due diligence on researching .

Without hands on experience with a knife, you never know if it is going to suit you, having read the specs or not.

I wouldn't complain about a knife I bought online feel unfelt, as it were, but the whole thing is inherent in buying from an online dealer.

Some people complain. Some people complain about people who complain.

No, the listing literally says:

Exactly. So those people were not "suckered" by the seller at all....ala the "PT Barnum/Sucker born every minute" reference.

I think we have all bought a knife only that didn't work for us. Hardly makes us suckers.

It seems thinks like size and weight opinions would be quite helpful in a review, based on how they are phrased.

Knowing something like "Its heavier than I imagined." might be helpful, even having read the weight.

Again, I wouldn't complain about it in a review.

I agree completely .

Sometimes a particular knife feels in hand or pocket carry much different than I'd expect just from the specs . I actually appreciate that kind of comment in a review .

So maybe that is what happened to those "jokers."

Its a fact that folks are more addicted to pictures than words these days.
Must be the result of picture browsing social media.
Gone are the days when folks walked all across town trying on stuff and then searching for the best prices.
I guess the way forward is the easy way, doing it all online... there is a price to pay for laziness ;-)

I agree. It's more of being an idiot for not reading the fine print.

If a sucker is born every minute, a dumb*** is born every half second.

Nope . I'm referring to reviewers that are pretty obviously clueless regarding the specs or written descriptions . That was my whole point . o_O

So when it happens to you it's reasonable, but when it happens to someone else they are "clueless jokers."

Got it.

You are either very confused or being purposely obtuse .

Please reread my posts and think it over a little more . ;)

What do you expect from internet reviews? Try reading appliance reviews. "I hooked this microwave up and I was heating up some potatos and they exploded and filled the house with black smoke. On top of that the aluminum foil melted and cracked the plate."

I was reading reviews for a lathe the other day there were like 30 negative reviews, trouble is, they were all reviews for a 3d printer.

You have said that you have bought knives online and found them heavier or larger than expected even having read the specs.

But then you called others who have done the same thing "clueless."

And that you appreciate reviews including things like "this knife was larger than I expected."

But then you called people who write reviews including just that "jokers."

So I guess I am obtuse, I don't see what your point is other than to complain about people who complain.

So I will leave you to doing that.

Generally , reviews and comments here on Blade Forums are more knowledgable and some are truly outstanding .:thumbsup::thumbsup:

On Amazon and such , you've really gotta sort through the dross .

Using small words : My thread here is meant to be defined and limited to those who order a knife based solely on the ad photo spread and then complain in their reviews because they expected the knife to be other than received . They did NOT bother to read the specs , written ad copy or other reviews etc . They do not accept their responsibility for being disappointed .

I was NEVER referring to those who order after a reasonable amount of research but are still surprised and /or disappointed by some aspects . That is actually what I want to read about in a review !

Sorry if I was unclear .
