Well my intention was to get out to practice cooking over fire, trap making, and bow drill methods.

However, the trail I went to was new to me, shorter than I thought it would be, everything was wet, and quite frankly I just didn't feel like doing much. I hiked about 3.5 miles and came home. I did manage to snap a couple pics though:

I was breaking them up to fit in the canteen cup and they exploded a bit. :)

I will say that the Trangia and my canteen are my preferred method of cooking on the trail. It may be a bit heavier than the systems backpackers are using today, but damn if it isn't rugged as can be and easy to use. The pot stand folds flat and sits in my canteen cup with the cup on top. The pouch for my canteen holds a folding spork.

I've got a canteen stove and smaller trangia on the way, looking to make that into a more versatile kit. The canteen stove should allow for easier fire cooking, but still work as a pot stand for alcohol stoves. Takes up no more space as it nests in my canteen cover.

Looks nice even if it was short !!!

Are those tyre tracks going straight into the water, trailer and boat maybe ?

Yeah that's a launch site. Row boats and electric trolling motors only. It has a little stream that connects to some other lakes. surrounded by miles of state land. Very quite back there.

Bought some, made some. It's a standard USGI canteen cup, a Swedish Army Trangia stove and a folding hardware cloth pot stand available at any lowes/home depot.

Total invested in that picture is about $10. My friggin ti folding spork cost more. :D
