Did Buck recently started making model 655 in this configuration?
If not - when were those made?

I don't know how recently they began making them, but yes, they are a Build out model.

Probably in the last year or so? Sorry I can't help with more

I know Buck used to make 655 like that, but I was under impression that they switched to serrated+coating version sometimes ago(around 4-5 years) and never went back.
I check few websites and the only 655 there is a serrated+coating version. Perhaps somebody from Buck will help out......

Yes, the original models were coated/serrated. I believe Buck is using up a surplus of blades, and are now offering the build out version in bead blasted plain edge. With alot of build outs, they just use stock on hand, and probably dont want to spend the time/money to coat and serrate. OR they were planning an unserrated version, and already had these blades made, and are now just selling out? Either way they are build outs Most of them are winding up on auction sites, not knife retailers from what I have found. Great prices also, usually right around $30.00! I wish I had a use for one, the 655 blade was always too short for the amount of serration they put on it. The plain edge version is perfect to me!!!

I just bought one. Always liked the Short Nighthawk, but not the serrated version.

I bought one of these from the "list" that Joe H. had last year. I copied and then pasted this from my "list".

So, it a build out of some sort. I really like the knife as it matches my 650. On my blade it has arrow pointed up, meaning in was built in 2008. I really like the length and feel of the knife. Not sure where you can find them now as I assume the special "list" is long gone.

I realize this thread is six months old but thought I'd add some info.

Bought this Short Nighthawk over the weekend, (NIB $37).

Box was marked 6/16/09 though the blade shows a 2008 date stamp. Very nice knife!

They were sold at the 2008 Father's Day factory sale in Post Falls, ID, IIRC for $25. I have seen them many times in local gun shops anywhere from $40 to $60, pretty much what a new regular model Nighthawk runs.
