I'm just guessing Hawkeye but I think its a piece of plastic nailed to a limb cut off that they've used to shoot cans with a shotgun.

But the real reason they cut the limb, (another guess) and put the plastic on top of the cut was to keep the sap off the latern that sits there at night to light the area around the camp.

How was my guessing Igor?

Russian variant of the Shashlyk - meat pork, a neck or a hip or a back of a pig (wild boar).
The Caucasian variant of the Shashlyk - meat mutton a back or a hip of a ram (sheep).
In both cases meat is pickled in a current of one days, with spices in various marinades.

I'm thinking I'm up for the Russian version of Shashlyk!!!! Not much a mutton kinda man. I like the skewers too. A lot better than what I use at home. gw

My wife is from the Philippines and they always skewer pork like your Shashlyk. They marinate the pork with a mixture of vinegar and soy sauce.

Yes , it is a good idea , it will have good taste in this case.
We use a vinegar too with the spices.
And we use of course others many variants of the marinade, specific a sour milk for example.

I think I increase an American food market with my posts and recipes.:)

Looks delicious. Great food + knife content; what's not to like, right?

Perhaps Buck could make or commission a Limited Edition set for BCCI members? :)

But why stop at the skewers? Buck could do a BBQ set with skewers, tongs, turner, and of course, knives....steak knives and a carver.

Wow, what a setup!!!! I can see why the bottom one has a lock.
If you buy it, you can say it is for children.:D
Then you close it on the lock and say it is only for adult because vodka is legal from the age of 21 years.:D

Igor can you explain how it's built and used? This probably a stupid question but it looks like a stump to me.

The postman drives by a bicycle on woods and he puts the paper letters in that mailbox.
He knows all the places where these mailboxes are.:D
It is old system of a countryside post.:)
Mailbox has an empty space under the plastic cover inside of the wooden cabinet.
