Mr. Jack O'Neill, well known custom knifemaker here on BF, put this together for me and I'm very happy with the results. The full tang sword has OAL of 25" with 18" blade. Steel is A2 heat treated by Paul Bos and cryo treated to RC 61. Scales are antique ivory micarta with copper pins and total weight is just over 30oz. Hope you like it.

I actually like it a lot Jack. Keeping things symmetrical on a blade that big is a ton of work. I'd love to see how it moves and check out the balance. If I may ask how did you manage the small fuller? Do you have a mill?

I like it - I just don't get in this forum very often. In fact, my only previous post in a sword thread was instructions on how to get a thread moved to another forum, so it may not have been in this forum when I posted.:D

My long pointy objects are American/European sword bayonets and military swords.

I usually just come here trying to get info on what I have or am thinking about buying.

Not like it? If I was a Roman I'd trade my tactical loricus segmentata for that blade.

You'd need to change the ivory micarta to black to make it a "truly" tactical. And put a parkerized finish on the blade.

Hhmmm. Black handled, big, parkerized Gladius. The "Tactical Gladius", a modern edition of a classic and iconic blade. I'd buy one. Other than hang it on the wall and wait for a home invasion, don't know what I'd do with it. :D I guess I could always hang it with my Patton sword. :D:D

Done up the way you describe it, the Tactical Gladius would be a bad ass piece of work.

I have a friend that has a mill , I bought a 3/16 ball end mill and did it there .

I have some large pieces of cardboard and some water jugs at home, I'll see about putting together a video this weekend hacking them up.

I like it. I've seen that style of handle on something else and liked that too..can't remember what it was.

Mr. Hansen is going to try and do some video's of how it moves and works . watch for updates .

OK gentlemen, I made 3 videos showing the sword against heavy cardboard, water jugs, and chopping a piece of wood. As I am not particularly computer savvy, I can't figure out how to shrink them to download here nor how to turn them 90 degrees clockwise.
If one of you know how to accomplish these tasks, please pm me with your email address and I'll send them to you so you can post them. Thanks for your help.
Jack

It's done! There is no sound from what I can tell. Shall I upload it to Youtube and post it?

Edit: There is sound! It appeared after the main movie file was converted for the interwebs. :D

Sure, and thanks for your help.
There was sound, not sure why that didn't transfer.

And away we go! :D
