Short Sword in the Gladius style

Agreed!

well then that is it , to quote you from page one ( almost ) Here we go . Well it will still be a bit . It will be so cool , I made a split guard for it , separate pieces of A-2 for each side .

I picked up a center boss on Amazon and showed some pictures of bucklers to a welder friend. He used a piece of 16 gauge steel with a diameter of 14" to put this one together.

Nice pair. I thought when I saw this piece the first time that it had a little Celtic-styling. Looks like it goes nicely with that buckler.

I'm not into swords but I love the Gladius. That's awesome. How does the handle feel?

The handle feels positive as it is but I may wrap it in leather. Noah from Wasteland Leatherworks just came by and picked it up so he can make an across the back scabbard for it. I told him to do it in his apocolyptic style and will show it off here when I get it back. Thanks for the comments gentlemen.

Oh hell ya! You're building up a nice set, I like the buckler a lot, and the gladius looks like it was made for a leather wrap. If this keeps up by next year you'll be wearing a full-on loricus segmentata to the grocery store like a boss!

Yeah, then they'll throw the net over me and escort me to my own private rubber room:D.

Beautiful sleek blade and I far prefer the half moon pommel over a round one on these custom swords.

Due to other commitments, it took awhile for Noah at Wasteland Leatherworks to get the scabbard completed, but here it is along with some of his other work. It's made for back carry but can be modified for belt carry also.

A2 at 61 HRc ?? That's just right for carving a calf roasted whole .You know those picnics on the 4th of July ! My mini -gladius is only good for a rabbit !

I'd love the opportunity to try it on a roasted calf or pig but if there's a question as to the validity of the A2@61 Rc, I can ask Mr. O'Neill to stop by and clarify.

Yep , A-2 at HRC 61 . Like Mete said , it should have no problem with a whole calf.

The heat treat was done in Paul Bos shop .
