ditto, mach 3... same reason

I have to agree Mach 3, I suppose using a straight razor would keep your sharpening skills practiced though.

Outside of a dog, a Knife is man's best friend. Inside a dog it is very, very Dark.

The Mach III works great for me as I am still half asleep while shaving and usually in a hurry to get to work - it could get ugly quick. The knives I have given the full Edgepro Apex treatment do seem to shave the hair off my arms closer and quicker than the Mach III though. Without the little grooves for the hair to get stuck in, the straight blade will take off more hair per swipe.

A true knife nut shaves with his knives. Straight razors are for amateurs. I've got one for show, but my knives would get insulted if I used it. If it just wasn't for those pesky ears that keep getting in the way of the belly on my elk knife things would go much quicker. Oh--there is that electric razor thing that seems to get used a lot.

I had an electric razor accident on vacation a few weeks back. I had been using my electric with the cord plugged in rather than using the battery for a few weeks. I took it for an overnight trip without bringing the cord. I was shaving a two-day stubble the next morning when the battery went absolutely dead. The razor jammed with the cutters clamping a handfull of my whiskers in the screen. It hurt like hell and I couldn't get the d*mn thing off my face. I didn't have the cord so I couldn't power it up. I had to pop the screen release to get it to let go. My wife thought I was awfully funny. And they call those things safety razors.

Damn ears!. A nose doesn't help either.

Jeff, what you are saying supports the use of a stright razor as a tradeoff. In the sense that it is easier to keep your face "unmodified" too much and it doesn't get jammed.

I'd be a dead man, tried once and looked like something from a gangster movie!!!

I'll stick to my Bic

Tried shaving with my knife once. I forgot my BIC at the house. Worked pretty good. Nose or ears did not get in the way. Still have both ears and one nose

.

Now I wear a beard. Two swipes with a BIC, three at the most, and I'm ready to go.

Now I'm jealous. Being age fifteen means I have no large growths of facial hair. When/if I grow facial hair, I'd be sure to shave it off with an asian machete.

Lest anyone think that you can't cut yourself with a mechanical shaving contraption, I offer a tale. I was giving myself the fortnightly crew-cut when I accidentally ran the Wahl trimmer into the underside of my ear, right by my head.

The trimmer made a sound like "grrrowmf" as it finally tore up enough flesh to stop its motor.

be happy conrad, shaving is nothing but a pain, maybe even more with a misplaced straight razor, but i want to try one anyway

Man. Good question. I'd like to, but I usually cut myself with those double bladed safety razors. Nearly had to be hospitalized last time I tried a Bic. I have two electric shavers, a Norelco and a Braun. If I use both I can get a reasonably good shave. Not as close as a blade (or two or three

), but sometimes I like to go out without scabs all over my chin. Those electrics are faster, too.

Truly lazy people,me for instance, shave once or twice a year if we need to or not.It usually takes 2 to 3 bics.

I have flirted with the idea for years. I use a Beautiful brush I bought at http://www.shavemac.com/
Check them out they have lots of neat stuff.
I never have or wished to go back to caned stuff. I have very thick hair and am prone to ingrown hairs so shaving daily was torture. I have not had an issue since switching. I think the only problem with a straight razor for me is not the laziness but finding the time. My mornings are like most. Rush rush rush and out at the last minute.
