Should Double Thumb Studs Be Standard On All Sebenza's? Why or Why Not?

don't own any CR yet but I have a few knives and I prefer dual lugs, looks better Imo
who knows then, you may have on only moment where you have to use the left hand
seeing a screw is ugly for me too

so dual to me

I just recently ordered a Large Sebenza with a polished blade and double BLUE lugs....I really like the way that blue looks.

I could be just as happy with double silver....single silver...single blue...:)

I looked at TONS of pics, and changed my mind on what i liked numerous times. It's a hard decision because there really isn't a bad looking Sebenza out there. They all have their own soul so to speak.

I have 2 sebenza's and I plan to send them in to have double thumb studs put on. I like the look and it's functional.

I like single. Double thumb studs is like having a car with a steering wheel on both the right and left sides, just on the off chance you might take your car to a foreign country where they drive on the left.

I guess, in my thinking, if you're left-handed, get a left-hand knife with the thumb stud on the oposite side of the blade. Then your lock and clip will be situated correctly as well.

For the fun of discussion...

Symmetry (in favor of dual lugs) is not a valid arguement in my opinion. The Seb has very unique lock side and front side cutouts, which to me, 'look' like they should just come with one lug.

On Sebenzas the single stud is pressed in place, so it's nice and flush on the off side....Luckily there's no screw needed to look bad on the off side :)

Now on Umnumzaans, they are awesome enough to have double lugs anyways due to them doubling as the stop pin - lots of double in that sentence :o

For me, I like the look of the single blue thumb stud on Sebenzas

I only own one CRK, a large Regular with double thumbstuds. You would think that I would be all for making the double thumbstuds, but I'm not. I have no problem with CRK's present policy right now. Putting double thumbstuds on every knife would increase the cost of the Sebenza accordingly and it is already an expensive knife. I am glad that CRK offers the option of adding the doubles though, so that those who want them and are willing to pay the extra expense can get them.

Double lugs look great but the extra lug can catch on pants' pockets. For me, the single lug is more practical and preferred, especially on a Classic or 21.

On the other hand, on the old large Regular (my favorite Sebenza of all time -- please bring it back Chris!), I usually go for two lugs because there is an extra cut-out on the Ti that is a nice feature.

i love double lugs, my insingo,21,classic and regular are all double-lugged.
I love the symmetry of it and to me it makes the package complete.

I think it'd be nice to make double lugs the default configuration, but that mean unless otherwise specified, customers will be paying $35 more for a plain sebbie.

The insingo I recently got - I went with dual thumb studs. My reasoning: If this is an everyday carry for me, and for some horrible reason I cannot get the blade out of my knife with my right hand, the left hand is just as easy if need be. I don't need any further things enhancing an already very bad situation. For me, it was purely about utility - which is what the reeve is for me, the purest form of "tool" I can have.

I thought I would like the double - but got to hold one at my local B&M store a few months back - not a big fan.

Kind of like the single.

I say this after owning 3 large Sebenzas.

And I also agree - I have dealt with CRK a few times and they know what customer service is all about.

For a $300+ knife that is a useful tool, double lugs should come standard. There are times that you could need to use it with your off hand.

Like a Lot of People are Saying,

Yes, If you Try A Little Harder And Apply A Little More Effort, most people can open them with either hand, even with the single stud. But My point is, you shouldn't have to go threw the extra trouble. I know that CRK Sebenza's are not at all designed to be weapons, or made for fast deployment, etc, but picture this for a second if you will...

You are getting attacked by Zombies. Lots of Em! Undead Brain Eating Zombies. You Lose Your Right Arm While Using a Large Chain-Saw To Decapitate Several Of The Undead Hoard. One Starts to Get The Upper Hand On You As You Recover From You Recent Loss. You Reach Into Your Right Pocket With Your Left Hand, And Grab Your Single Lug Right Handed Sebenza. You Struggle To Get The Knife Open, Which You Could Normally Manage To Do Eventually With Your Off Hand, But Under The Added Pressure, And The Unforseen Amount Of Your Own Slippery Blood, You Are Unable To Open The Knife In Time. You My Friend, Have Met Your Fate. An Unfortunate Fate That That Could Have Been Prevented, Had You Only Been Carrying A Double Lug Sebbie. (or a flamethrower, but you get the point)

The Moral Of This Story Folks, People Don't Kill People... Zombies Kill People!

(Anyone who knows me should know that I am in no way bashing crk for their product choices, I guarantee that they have their reasons, and good ones at that. Just Getting Opinions On What I Find To Be An Interesting Topic, and Also Telling Zombie Horror Stories Cause I'm Bored)

I'm left handed and I particularly like it when right handed people try and use my CRK's.

Also, if you are opening it with the "wrong" hand, use your index finger to flick the blade open. We lefties seem to have significantly higher dexterity (even in the non-dominant hand!) than most right handed people, and I have never found it hard to open a "wrong" sided knife. I just complain about it not being left handed :)

I havent done an exact count, but it's looking pretty even to me. Great feedback everybody! Keep it coming, I look forward to seeing this thread still on top a year from now!!

I do prefer the looks of a DBL lugs but i received my first DBL lugged Sebenza the other day and i cant for the life of me open the knife with the opposite lug.Its a right handed Seb but when using the lug on the opposite side i just cant pry it open.Perhaps it will loosen up in time but as of right now theres noway that opposite lug is doing anything functional for the knife.

One lug is all I want. In fact sometimes, like when slicing something, one is too many. I don't have any with double thumblugs. To each his own. I'm happy with them they way they are.
