Should GEC make a Jumbo Beer Scout?

Sounds silly. There were Scouts before the Boy Scouts. The knife shield says Beer Scout - I'd understand if the Beer Scouts were unhappy about it, but the Boy Scouts?
Us "Beer Scouts" are never unhappy about anything!

This does raise a sidebar though. With the huge surge in craft/micro brew beer in the US I can't believe that not one brewery has partnered up to build a run with their name on it.

"BEER SHOUT"
yes can have that one for free and only one letter needs to be changed!

Hey if the Finlanders ever come up with one they could call it a "PUUKE-O"

Actually it's not a bad idea to increase the size...that way the shield would be big enough for the small print..
" BEER-NOT TO BE ASSOCIATED OR IN ANYWAY CONFUSED WITH ANY OR ALL YOUTH BASED ORGANISATIONS MODERN OR HISTORICAL OF ANY NATIONALITY IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR
FORM- SCOUT".

PUUKE O is about right....who's gonna argue with that.

Excellent idea. An SFO of 100-500 branded Beer Scouts could be great advertising for a brewery. They could also be used as gifts for loyal clients.

Ok, here's another idea, and I'm sure I'm not the first to have it, but a GEC granddaddy Barlow would just rock.

AND be a perfect platform for the jumbo beer scout we're wishing for.
This sort of exists. I believe it is a 65 pattern fish knife, not the mako-fish tail, but the fishing knife. It comes with a long granddady size clip and a secondary that includes a caplifter.

That's a long way from a big barlow, but if all you wanted was a long blade and an ugly, mostly useless, hook disgorger, I reckon you'd be there. Does anyone here carry GEC's "fish knife" for any occasion other than fishing?
What GEC should do, IMO, is put a proper 2nd pen blade on the 65 and make a proper English jack.

I would love to see a 77 NF barlow with cap lifter and either a sheep's foot or spear blade. Add in an easy open notch too. Would that be weird?

Picture this knife but on the 86 frame. It is been a few years and the 86 pattern is available now. They should just use the banner shield so there are no Boy Scout legal issues.

Yeah true. Then how about a 77 with a bottle, pint glass, or beer stein shaped shield or blade etch? And some beer barrel wood covers.
It is nice to see that your idea came actually became real with the bottle shield on the 2021 85 cap lifters. The bottle shield could also be used again on this proposed Bigger Beer Scout.

I would like to see a caplifter jack version of the 35. I like the 15 platform, but it feels a bit small for a CL jack to me. For reference, here is one compared to a 1940's Hammer Brand. The Hammer is exactly the size and shape of the GEC 35. I also thought the 85 was a really good platform choice for this sort of knife.

You could have one if you did a can-opener delete on the recent Camp & Tool #35.
