Should I buy a Dozier D2?

I know Jack. My step Dad's name was Jack. I also know Jack Daniels the preacher and I use to drink Jack Daniels the Whisky. One of my favorite movies was Billy Jack and Jack and Jill is one of my favorite rymes. Jack and Dian was one of my favorite songs. I dont even want to get started on what I do in the bathroom that has to do with Jack and I do Jumping Jacks every morning. No, let me tell you something right now. I know Jack. I know very few Sonny's though.

No doubt about it, you definitely know jack, but from your response it's hard to tell whether you know what ellipsis is.

In reference to the guy two post up from NYC

I usually don’t reply to people from up north because they know everything and are not able to learn.
--------------------------------------------------------------

Thats not always true and not exclusive to northerners or city people but I can see how you do get the impression since there are a number of people who swallow northern style kool aid (what an "ideal man" should be like propaganda)

But surely you can't say the south and west don't have have their own brand of kool aid that is equally ridiculous.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Why so many Dozers? Is it because you collect them and don’t use them.

----------------------------------------------------------------

I sounds like your talking about me what can I say I like knives but I don't have the open space and freedom to use them like you.

I do have only one dozier though, and it came to me razor sharp. I love it. Although a NY Special (you see I like Dozier he doesn't forget us northern folks) is a legal blade I am concerned about creative arrests and hollywood based facts being used to dazzle a judge or jury. But my impression is they are great quality am I wrong ?

----------------------------------------------------------------

You been hunting in Central Park again. Nothing like a 10 point squirrel.

---------------------------------------------------------------

That is a good one

--------------------------------------------------------------

The length is what makes it an a everyday carry knife but seeing how your from the city you need something to argue about. What does my length comment have to do with my next comment about chopping?

I say its a nice length for daily carry, is that a problem. Then I say but its not a great chopping knife do to the fact D2 is a little brittle. Fact is I will not chop wood with D2 because I don’t like to push the limit and I will only chop thru bone because I need to since that’s the knife I have in my hand at the time. I have 1095 bowies laying around for chopping wood.

--------------------------------------------------------------

I agree but this is not exclusive to northern or city people.

--------------------------------------------------------------

The reason you have no problem with sharpening is because maybe you have seven of them under glass case and have never used them in the real world. Try using one for a few days of actual field use then sharpen one. I fell your story will change.

----------------------------------------------------------

It sounds like your talking about me again but I do agree I do find D2 hard to sharpen my experience comes from having to sharpen Ontario and Queen's plain dull to semi sharp blades. I do think constant touch ups would make big sharpening less frequent. Correct me if I am wrong.

---------------------------------------------------------------

I have found that in this world no matter where you go there will always be someone from Michigan or NYC that think they are experts and know more then everybody else. If they know so much I do not see why they live in Michigan or NYC.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Don't be too quick to point fingers some of the stuff that southern geniuses conjure up can be quite a roll of laughs.

I am not saying this is you though on the contrary I get the impression you do put your stuff to good frequent use.
----------------------------------------------------------------
A lot of what I know about D2 is straight for the show room floor of AG Russell’s since I am in there about every two weeks asking a hundred questions. I know many people who have Dozer knives and this coming weekend I am going to set down with Mr. Dozer at the convention center where a knife show is going to be held at and we are going to discuss his D2 steel.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Very good can you thank him for thinking of us Northerners when making his knives.

-------------------------------------------------------------

I know what D2 is and I have used it before. It don’t have to be in a Dozer knife to be understood.

-------------------------------------------------------------

They say Dozier D2 is better quality than other D2 steels you would probably be in a better position to confirm that than I.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Other then that, how are you this morning. I hope you are fine.

I am fine thank you

greater, I think Ricky Bobby's misspelled rant was aimed at me.

Perhaps I should chance one of the used ones on eBay. I would get it about 3 months faster. The mark and kydex sheath both seem genuine. If there was anything wrong with it that I could see, it's just a slight patina on the blade and a hint of red in the mark where it says "Arkansas Made Dozier". But no chips or dents that my eyes can see.

Functionally speaking, I'd say it's acceptable since I'm looking for a tough user knife rather than a safe queen.

Anybody had experiences with customs off eBay? My exp with them are with production folders and they've been great so far.

Had a massive change in gears after I found a Tom Krein TK-1 for roughly the same price in CPM-3V.

Anyone knows how it might compare to a Dozier?
