Should I buy an Edge Pro Apex?

Is the Edge Pro able to sharpen Slipjoint blades...smaller blades etc or do I need a different system for that?

I took cbwx34's idea of the casserole pan and got one too. The one I have is a bit bigger, maybe an inch or two wider and 2-3" longer. It does a good job. I had to clean off my suction cups. They were coated with grit and steel dust along the edges. .In fact, the dust was pretty hard to get off - I scraped them with my fingernail under running water, then rubbed soap all over them to finish it off. They hold a lot better in the glass pan than they ever did on wood.

EdgePro for me, was the way to go, after YEARS and I'm talkin' years of free hand sharpening, which I always was fairly good at, I got the EdgePro and love it, consistent sharpening, still learning for curved blades but getting better. I still free hand sharpen when the need calls, when I'm on the road I'll bring a few small stones.

As for small slip joint folders, here is a coping blade on one of my Great Eastern Cutlerly folders I use to own, pretty small and narrow blade,
I used what looks like a tongue depressor stick as a backstop for the blade, I would tape the stick down before using the system

Provides a very cleanly made bevel, mirror polished, cuts very nicely :)

My one nitpic would be the frame could be a bit stronger, metal instead of plastic, I've toyed with the idea of making my own stand to make it overall more secure.

I also bought the round glass they sell that I set the rig up on, but I like that glass cooking dish, good idea!! that'll help keep the wife happy too, less mess ;)

i just ordered an edge pro apex 4 and got it there..i didnt know i could get upgraded stones though

Tormek, Edge PRO, WEPS or whatever are proven systems. If you're into knives you won't make a bad deal getting an Edge Pro, for instance. I've got a Tormek T7, an EP Apex and a large set of Naniwa Super Stones. I say go for stones and learn that and get good at it. The other systems are great for saving time, but stones are stones and will give you more satisfaction from climbing the skill ladder over time.
