Should I buy?

So there's this guy selling is ZT 0561 near where I live. It's used, but the guy only collects so only 3 little blemishes on the knife, he says it's in perfect condition. He sent me pictures and it looks A1. Never carried/used so never sharpened. He's asking 200$ for it, what do you think? I said i'd buy it but, just wanted your opinion. I know the knife, it's quality and popularity in the knife world. I know the specs and the materials. All friends have one, and they all love it. So should I pull the trigger? Is it really worth it?

$200 for a 0561 in anything but perfect condition is a poor deal. They can be had for well under $200 very often on the exchange forum here, and also on a certain well-known auction site.

If he were buying online it may be a poor deal. But buying in person it sounds like a good deal. At the.gun stores around me they never had them below $300. Gun shows they were around $260 i think at the last one i went to.

OP, check it out first. If its perfect buy it, if not get it online for cheaper.

You can buy one brand new online for 195 bucks. So maybe get him to knock it down a little on his price, other than that its a great knife and well worth the money.

Contact Dave at kershawguy.com for his best price. Chances are that you will get a brand new one for at least as good if not a better price.

(( not a paid BF Dealer )) has that knife brand new for $202 plus free shipping

Not only that but the guys lives 10 minutes from my house. So maybe in the net i'd be paying less, but the shipping might be higher. Thanks guys, will be looking into it.

If it was a deal worth jumping on, you wouldn't be asking....

The knife itself is worth buying. The price is up to you to decide if its worth it. Like you say, it's only 10 minutes from your house.

The only problem I could see with buying from him is that if the knife has any problems that the current owner didn't notice, or develops them within the first few days of use, you might have a hard time getting any money back from him where with an online dealer you could relatively easily return the knife for a new one.

Good blade though, well worth it.

If you buy it, it will bring you joy for about a week and than you'll start looking around for the next one.

Being as you live in Canada and the knife is local so you can examine it in hand,if it's in ( perfect ) condition I say worth the $200.

It costs $260 to get one from a verified ZT dealer. The 0560s are easy enough to tell if they're legit, and you have the added bonus of being able to check out the action before paying for it. Someone new complains every day about the detents being too tight or the lockbar sticking - so being able to handle the knife before purchasing is worth the 10$ you would save anyway. On some of the lowball sites their pictures have discrepencies on some of the models, and so far everyone I know that has bought from budget sites are striking out with the fit and finish.

3 blemishes would bother me though - I have an 0561 I have opened 200 times and carried in my back pocket, and other than a little bit of stickiness on the lockbar you can't tell it's used at all. What you should do OP, is go and check out the knife under bright lights and look it over carefully. Check the detent strength and make sure the action is smooth - see if you can open with the flipper and the thumb stud. If you think it's practically new and the action suits you, jump on it - you can buy a half dozen more and not find one that suits you. If it has easily visible blemishes, the action isn't smooth, the lockbar sticks or the detent strength doesn't suit you, try your luck somewhere else.

Without pictures its hard to say. I'd just grab the cash and go pay him a visit. 10min is nothing and could get you the knife you want. alsofind out if he still has the original box. Should there be anything wrong with it later on you can always get it serviced.
