Should I carry this?

Use It. It's an unmarked 21. Harder to find than in days past because of all the whining about the Idaho Made stamp. Use it and enjoy it in good health. Every scuff and scratch it encounters is an adventure you were on with it. I am not a spa person either unless there is something wrong. Scuffs and scratches are the norm. I hunt with a $10,000 double rifle that is scuffed and scratched and color casing is wearing off from USING it and enjoying it and from belong over my shoulder when dragging deer out. Use it and Enjoy it sir....!!!

I agree. There is a distinct pleasure in uglying up a beautiful item through honest use.

What's up with the Idaho Made stamp?

Th "Idaho Made" engraving was implemented sometime in 2010 production as far as I know. Meant to show CR pride in Idaho production and perhaps to make copying harder/illegal.

Justin brings up an interesting point... what is the percentage of lefty regulars to rightys? How much do you think value is reduced if any , by it being left handed?, Bart

Everyone says "use it" , but those same people have knives in their collection they WOULDNT use:)

IMO....If it was me, i would NOT use it. Id get a current gen Sebenza or Umnumzaan and use that one instead. Id put that 09 Sebenza you have on the side just like everyone elses' prize CRK and save it and cherish it. And yes, it will be worth more as the years go by.

IMO...Think of how valuable an UNUSED 09 Sebenza 21 with NO I daho will be in say 10 years:)

Honestly, I have no knife that I would not use. That is not to say that I don't have knives I have never used; only that I am not afraid to use any of them. Use can (and likely will) impact monetary value, but I derive more value from using a knife than I do from its monetary appreciation by virtue of not having been used. I am far from rich, but my most expensive knife (twice a mortgage payment) is in fact a user though it was brand new when I bought it.

ETA: I will say that on the record, what each person chooses to do or not do with their knives is an individual choice that is no more right or wrong than any other choice. The choice for me is to use as I get great pleasure from using a knife, especially a high-end custom. Others may choose only to display or collect their knives without actually using them. That is awesome in it's own way, but it is not for me. Each to his own. It's all good. :)

Well lemmuhj, while late to the party I appreciate your viewpoint. Honestly those were my thoughts as well. But since I had no real desire to hold onto a knife I couldn't use for 10yrs I just went ahead and did what I planned from the beginning...put my tool straight to work. There's no undoing it...I've never been a collector of anything that goes unused, and REALLY just wanted to see what all the hype was about....so in my pocket it went with its new friend my flashlight, and off to slicing packages and bagels and engine belts it went. I think it's happy.

Clipless pocket carry seems to make the lanyard wrap or fold onto the tip of the blade and cut at it. Its already notably frayed. I'll have to tie it differently or ditch it

Still all good! If you wanna use it, then hell...USE IT! lol.

I personally like to have a few safe queens and a few users. Its hard NOT too use any CRK!

I've already got a few more in the works. Looking a large 21, have about $0.67 left in my bid for a small lefty regular, and I want a plain handle damascus so bad I can taste it. Haha

Ditched the lanyard today. No other knife finds its way into my left front pocket now.

Well I still baby my first CRK a Damascus carbon fiber 21, it sees steak cutting duty at the most. My other two CRKs, get hard use, especially my Unumzaan.

CF/Damascus, nice. one of my favorite combos. Id love one of those one day, hopefully a spirograph, or at least a real dark heavy contrast raindrop

I would carry it and use it, but not abuse it. I have one Reeve folder, a Sebenza 25 that I carry and use. Life's too short to let a knife like a Reeve folder languish at the bottom of your sock drawer because of the price. ;)
