Should I convex my IZULA

i'm convexing a lot of my knives too, really like convex grinds
what's the difference between applying pressure and not applying pressure?
thanks

too much pressure and the sandpaper will wrap up over the edge and actually dull it, rather than making it sharper. Very Very light pressure, or basically just the pressure of weight of a small knife. When convexing a big heavy chopper, just the weight of the blade will be too much, you will have to keep it lighter than it's own weight.

8* per side:eek:. Now we're talkin'. Whats the limit for that shallow an edge angle in terms of tasks that start to produce deformation? 10* is about as low as I've gone, and I didnt see any deformation, but it was nearly 10 points harder than the Izula.

I haven't avoided any tasks with this edge. I cut Cat 5 cable regularly, force it roughly through clamshell packaging, baton it in the woods, banged it against the cutting board in the kitchen and have had no real edge deformation. On a couple of occasions I've felt some slight waviness by running the edge of my fingernail perpendicularly down the edge, but that was gone after 3 or 4 strokes on a ceramic hone. It dented a bit when the edge struck the kitchen sink and another time when I contacted a rock in the woods but both times the damage was removed after just one or two minor touch ups. I thin all my edges to within 8 - 10 degrees per side and even with stainless steels have had no significant problems.

Enough hijack though, the OP seems to have made up his mind.
