Should I force a patina on my beckers?

A natural patina will develop over time. Forcing one just adds a little corrosion resistance and allows you to pics how the blade patinas. I use gun blue, but don't use that for any food prep blades cuz its poisonous. Any acidic fruit will do it, or mustard and vinegar as well

I'd say no, mostly. Unless you just want to, you know to get it out of your system. If thats the case .......then yes.

One more question guys: I stripped everything so in the grivory scales wont the becker tang handle rust?

Yes if you don't perform basic mantainance. Just keep it clean and oiled up. Or you could spray a few coats of clear coat under the scales.

you could also use johnson's paste wax (or similar) to inhibit rust under your scales; or even to protect your shiny finish.

If you're not going to use it for food prep, spray with WD40. Any kind of oil will protect against rust. I use canola and vegetable oil, since I use mine for food prep quite often. Patina's and polishing will help prevent rust also.

I used the twisted paper towel with vinigar method on a Bravo1. I saw it here some time back. It was easy and looks awesome. I have tried WD40 but these days I am using Pam cooking spray or nevr -dull. The nevr-dull is nice on knives with micarta because it looks like you are staining the scales but when it dries it fades back and leaves a protective haze on the handles as well as the blade.

It could wind up costing you like it may wind up costing me. All I did was strip mine and soak them in white vinegar for a while, and now the blades are such a beautuful gunmetal gray that I don't want to mess them up by using them. I'm going to have to re-buy them them and leave them black so I won't be worrying about it.

Use em, whats the worst that happens, you hit em with steel wool and dump em in vinegar again.

What is up with the grips on the BK7, it looks textured or something, but not stippled or sanded the way I've seen done before.
