I want to know all of your opinions on this knife. I've never held any REKAT's, so please give me alot of details on the construction of the carnivore(pins, bolts-all the nooks and cranny's) and there is a couple questions i need yall to try and answer for me, thanks a million.

1, is the lock stronger then the Military, CUDA's, and Axis Locks-how does the Carnivore meet up with the "other" locks.

2, what size hex/torx screws are used for it, and if tooken apart, will there be any stripped screws.

I can't comment on the screws for the carnivore but yea you should get a REKAT. I have 3 and they are tough knives. As far as your selection (carnivore), you might consider a SIFU. I can see you're from NY and perhaps state law prohibits you from owning knives with blades longer than 2 or 3 inches. In any case, the carnivore is at least 3 inches so illegal (?) anyway, so you might as well go for the SIFU with its nearly 6" blade. When you break the law, you might as well do it ALL THE WAY. ***Note: I really don't advocate breaking the law but if you get busted for a over the legal limit blade, it might as well have been REALLY worth carrying in the first place. IMHO, LEO's don't bother people minding their own business.

NYC rules...< 4" is OK.
Carnie is OK.
Sifu...naughty, but nice. Very nice.

Get the Carnivour. You won't be disappointed.
The finish is not as fine as other knives, but the intention of the knife is to be used. The stonewashed finish on the blade hides scratches associated with use, and the rolling lock setup is among (or is)the strongest on the market.
Some have complained that the clip works loose. I wouldn't know as I have removed the clip on both my Carnivours.
The knife is built like a tank and has excellent ergos.

My Carnivore is a pre-production model, but it is as smooth as glass and locks up tighter than a drum. My Sifu is a production model and I can happily say the same for it. The screws are all commonly available allen head (see my previous post on Torx wrenches for Sifus) but I have not tried to take either one apart. From postings in this forum, I would hazard a guess that not everyone is equally adept at putting them back together! Mine work fine and I ascribe to the old axiom, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Go for the Carny. The Rolling Lock is STRONG! As for taking it apart, I've done it many, many times. Absolutely no damage to the allen heads. I've made a few mods to mine which have smoothed up the action a bit, Jailhack gave me some great tips for that. My signature line at the bottom has the link to pics of my knives; the first four show my Carnivore. I really like this knife, and it's a lot of fun to work on and play with.

must......get......Carnivore!

I love my Carnivore(s). The most common complaint is the grittiness of the action. It does smooth out with time. I have taken mine apart and accelerated the process. Very ergonomic and the lock is rock solid. Definately a knife that you can depend on. The stonewash finish is nice also, one doesn't have to worry about those unsightly scratches.

What they said... I really like mine. It' very stong, very sharp, and not (mine isn't) "gritty" at all. I'm thinking about getting another, a black blade this time.

That's funny...I've got the black blade Carny, and was thinking about getting another one-a stonewash this time!

I am a LEFTY, but I like the std righty Rolling Lock better - too use to operating it with my pointing finger and not my thumb....LOL.

Simple conversion to do - drill, and tap hole, and single hole.

The hex cap screws that hold the body are #2 - 56 tpi
FYI - if you need some, e-mail me - I changed them all to the 3/16" length vs what they came with.

Ray, you scoundrel you! Another Carny modification and you didn't let me in on it? Damn! Now I've got to go get me some longer screws! (by the way, why am I doing this?

Paul,

LOL.... I used slightly longer screws since I found myself over tightening the stock ones and tearing out the threads - tip of the threads has a slight taper to it, and there was a little more room in the threaded spacer for it so I changed them. BTW, I couldn't buy the exact size the stock were either....thus the longer screws.

If you want to try the screws - send me an e-mail (otherwise I would forget....lol).
