Should I get a Spyderco Titanium ATR?!

Facts:

- You are a Ti handles addict.
- You can sell it here if you don't like it.
- Someone will buy it if you sell it here.

I appreciate all the positive comments. I did Wave that ATR in the pic presented here. That was when they were still being made and readily available. I always get a little bit withdrawn about modifying a potential collector item unless its already been a user. I am not sure I could bring myself to modify a mint condition never used Ti ATR. I'd much prefer it to be one that has already seen lots of use and pocket time.

One other thing that needs adjustment is the pocket clip on that knife if you keep the original. The way it comes it holds on so well it actually grips better than my suspenders so that has to be fixed in order to properly get the Wave to work.

On remounting the clip to tip down. I would have to make a new custom clip to do that and only could do it on the titanium model. The hardened stainless model is not one I care to even try threading. Its just a recipe for a mess IMO.

The ATR is a nice thin knife that Waves quite good once done. I just have to point out that whoever asks to have that done should be aware that it will lose value not gain it by this or any permanent mod.

For what its worth on that model there may be a way to modify it to Wave without permanently modifying the blade. The hood above the opening hole has screws in it and comes off. I've recently created a way to just about open via a Wave type of mod any folder sporting a thumb stud or thumb disc. (see one of my personal knives in the picture below in my signiture line)

You might also want to check my low rider pocket clip thread last page/last post by me or the second to last I am not sure. But look there on it for some pictures of the mods. Or on the big news with my new pocket hook thread at the link to my homepage in my profile..

Thanks. I like it a lot better because it does allow me to provide the same service without permanently modifying a folder to make it work.

I have made a very large effort to study this pocket hook idea and even paid for legal coucil on the idea. I have been told it is patentable and separate from the patent by Ernest Emerson and Andrew Demko but I have no intention of applying for a patent on it at this time. In fact I am going the opposite direction and if indeed it works out I will instead pay for a common creative license on it making it available to anyone in the knife industry that wants to use it. Kind of a way to give back to it for all it has given me.

As a just in case though I have also recieved Andrew Demko's personal ok to do this for people on their folding knives as well as Emerson's as everyone around here already is aware of. This ok from Andrew was after having a very good conversation with him at length about several things besides this on the phone. He is a true gentleman and a very nice man, much like Ernie. The bad rap he has recieved for his own invention is unjust to say the least but that is another subject. I think it speaks highly of both of these individuals to have no objections about a service using their ideas that is provided to the knife enthusiast and user. I know from personal experience that there are many law enforcement, military, firemen, and rescue workers much happier with their familar older carry knife that did not have a factory Wave but now sports one thanks to their generosity. They should both be applauded.

if ya bend the pocket clip out away from the handle it wont "hold onto" the pocket, ya only have to do it a tiny bit,

Been thinking about getting one for a few weeks now. I plan to have it waved properly by STR. It will cost me $200 for the knife and $30 for the wave. $230 for a Spyderco!
Most knife lovers will say go for it.
I say go for it, but wave a stainless ATR, not the ti-framelock version. I'm just thinking that if you wave a Ti-ATR and later try to sell it, that it won't hold its value. Just my 2 cents.
