Should I get an ESEE?

Hey, guys, first off, I want to say that joining the 'forums was one of the best things I've done in a while. As you can see, the 'forums are either awesome, or I lead an uninteresting life. Haha.

Anyway, I've got 3 knives as of right now, and I find they fit my needs pretty well. I've got the Becker BK7, the Ontario SP10, and Ka-Bar LHB. But I've recently become enthralled by the ESEE knives' beauty. I love their style, and everything about them. But, for a sixteen-year-old with limited cash-flow, they are a bit expensive (I'm so poor I consider anything $80 and up expensive) and I don't know if they'd be so head-and-shoulders above what I have that it would warrant its purchase.

I've been looking at an ESEE-6, and I can get it for $111 off eBay. Or, I could go about half that, and get the micarta for my Becker and some kydex and make a sheath for it.

Now, what do you think? Do it, or no? Also, if anyone would be willing to trade for an ESEE-6, I'd love to talk. I'd be willing to trade:

Leatherman Wave (lightly used) with nylon sheath and Monarch flashlight

FS Ontario SP10 (not too heavily used) with kydex sheath

Ka-Bar LHB (not too heavily used) with standard leather/cordura sheath

Becker BK7 (lightly used) with standard sheath and Remora

Thanks for looking, guys.

You want to post stuff like this in the trader section. The mods will probably move it there.

I don't know if someone will trade you, but if you put them up for sale, you might get enough to pay for the ESEE.

From what I've seen you can't go wrong with an ESEE of any kind. Buy it and worry about selling the others later!

ESEE are great knives at a reasonable price. Rock solid warranty. One you'll probably use and enjoy for the rest of your life.

just to let you know, you cant post the bottom half of the op in the general discussion. It must be posted in the b/s/t. and because you are not a gold member, you cannot do that, and therfore this thread is most likely going to end up closed soon.

Lover of Blades, please read the FAQ.

You started off all right, but posting trade offers in General Knife Discussion is against the rules. All buying, selling, and trading has to be posted in Exchange forums. I moved this to the proper trade forum but with all the conversation already in the thread, I doubt you'll get much help.

To post for sale, you will need at least a Gold membership.

Welcome LOB, keep an eye on the sale forum here though partner. I've seen a few go for less than what you can find them on Ebay plus the shipping is usually included in the cost.

There's nothing wrong with Becker knives. Nor any reason to own both the Bk7 and the ESEE6, if you're on a budget.
The ESEE's are more expensive, but you get micarta and a better sheath. Or, you could buy the Ka-Bar micarta and keep the BK-7. You can't go wrong with either, it's just a preference.
Head and shoulders above, that's debatable. I prefer the BK-2 over my ESEE 5 for general camping chores, but my BK-2 has micarta and kydex.
