Should I get new 20cv griptilian or 710?

Beautiful handful of knife porn JT!!!
I also have the 710-1401 and freakin love it!! Excellent knife!

I'd go with the 710 , without question. Extraordinary knife IMO. It really does carry small for a good size knife. The quintessential Benchmade IMO. But if you already own one then you may want to branch out.

Concerning D2 , I live mere feet from the ocean so the air here is always salty with pretty high humidity during summer and I haven't seen the slightest bit of rust or discoloration on any of my D2 blades. It holds a great edge too. Like someone mentioned : D2 takes a little more patience. But it's not terribly difficult. However , I do think that BM should upgrade the standard 710 blade to something a bit more high-end (at least S30V).

Anyway , I've never been fond of the Grip. It's just not my cup of tea. The Crooked River looks great. But the 710 reigns supreme for me.

I'm gonna be the devil's advocate here. I like the full sized Grip... always have. I also like the toughness and indestructible quality of FRN / Noryl type composite materials. And I even like the width of the Grip handles. Makes them very secure in hand when doing those rougher jobs. The only thing I really didn't like about the large Grip was the balance in hand. The lightweight scales made it fell blade heavy to me and I don't like that in a folder. Don't mind in a larger FB but I like a folder to sit in my hand and not feel like it wants to fall out.

The new scales have changed the balance enough so that the large Grip is very comfortable and secure now. It carries well in my pocket. I always know it's there but I don't mind that. I'm not a fan of light grey & blue but I can overlook that in favor of that very well designed 20CV drop point blade. I even like that blade & steel combo better than a Ritter blade.

I had a 710 for a while because it's an iconic Benchmade and I wanted to give it a try. There was just nothing about the knife that I really liked. Moved it along to someone who really wanted it and I've never had a hankerin' for another one. I haven't seen a CR in real life, just pix, so I have no comment on it.

I finally was able to get me custom scales :) I think Keyman made them

I love my 710-1401 my regular 710 in d2 I just can't get a balance of free swinging blade to no blade play ratio so it sits in my knife drawer.

I also am in love with my 710-1401!! Amazing knife that is even more special to me because my sons surprised me with it!!
They had KW engrave their initials in it and gave it to me on my birthday!
Can you say SPECIAL???

I love my Grip from the custom shop, don't have the CR.....yet, but you can't go wrong with a 710-1401. Since you already have a 710, I'd go with the CR. That thing is just soooo cool looking!!

PS.....JT.... PLEASE stop with the pics!!! You're killing me!!! Not sure of the model #, but that one on the left is spectacular!!!

Got a 710 last week and am really enjoying it. It's taking a screaming edge on my sharpmaker and is a slicing machine.

Add: I was planning on the KW version, but when I looked it showed as out of stock...and it's there again! Arrggg!!

I wanted to see what m390 is about...
