Should I grab this knife?

A widow I know has several of her late husband's knives sitting in her basement. Most are of little interest to me (old Imperials and the like, none in great condition). As a fixed-blade man, I noticed an old hunting knife and am wondering if I should pick it up from her. The knife is well-used, so not in the greatest condition. Looks like an old Marbles or Western. I checked it out quickly, so don't have much in the way of specs on the thing. I didn't notice any manufacturer's stamp on the blade. I dismissed it at the time, but now I'm thinking I should have picked it up. Is this worth grabbing and, if so, what's a fair price to offer her?

Also, I'm still trying to get any information on this Puma. Latest info is that it might be some type of WWI or WWII trench knife.

I believe one can never have too many knives, so I would probably get it. You may want to post in the collectors forum. Someone there may be able to help you in determining what it is and how much it is worth.

As to the unidentified knife, it looks much like a variation on the WW1 German trench knife pictured in Levine's Guide. I have the one pictured, without the small blades, but the similarity is marked.

Fix it right the first time, use Baling Wire !

Well, chances are she won't be using it. Ask her what she wants for it. If it seems way too high (or low), you can always bargain down or offer more.
