Should I mirror polish my ZT 0560 blade?

I was sharpening my 0560 today, and I got a couple of unsightly sharpening scratches, I want to get rid of them, but I don't really want to ruin my edge by stonewashing it again. Should I mirror the thing? Or, do you guys have any tips to get rid of the scratches? Thanks.

Do you want to mirror it, or is the stone wash more your look? You could do your own type of blackwash, with a really deep acid etch and then stonewashing. That would cover up the scratches pretty good. But then you're back at your original question - sharpening the beast again.

Mirrored wouldn't look too bad. I'm sure someone else has done it. I'll try and dig up a picture for ya.

If you manage to find one, I would really appreciate it! I googled it, but all that turned up was this thread.
I've acid washed before, I can't remember if I liked it. I think I did. I just can't manage to keep my knife looking the same for more than a month...

I did it. I can see if I still have a few pics of it tomorrow. It was a fingerprint magnet so I acid etch and stonewashed it.

If you could, that would be great! I mirrored a Lionsteel I had, and liked it, but I'm not sure how it would look on a zt.

Score! I knew it had to have been done somewhere! I've actually been tossing around the idea of acid etching and stonewashing my 0550. Do either of you guys have a good setup I could follow or know where I could find one?

The easy, cheap way I did it was with etchant from Radio Shack and a nalgene full of rocks in my dryer, wrapped in a towel and duct taped so it didn't come undone. It worked, surprisingly.

The PCB solution, I think? How long do you leave the blade in? I also remember something about using nail polish on the pivot area to keep that clean and free of any contaminants. Did you add anything to the nalgene and rocks in the dryer, like a lubricant or water of any kind inside the nalgene?

I'm pretty sure that's it, yeah.
The solution is fairly clear, and it happens fast. You can simply watch it, it only takes a few seconds.
I'd put nail polish on the pivot, detent, and lock face. That's what I did. It all peels off in the stone wash, though.
I used fairly smooth pebbles with dish soap. The stone wash takes about an hour.

I'm thinking about mirroring the bevel and swedge only, by taping up the rest. That might work.

Soapy water, I think without water, your blade could chip.

Thanks bud. I may have a weekend project ahead of me. Now to decide if the ZT 0550 or the Manix2 gets it. It might end up being the Manix. She's got some purty scales and a fancy low-rider clip, so I may as well finish the job.

No problem! I'd agree, if you're gonna customize it, go all the way! What kind of scales did you stick on it?

Thanks! I got a set of Olive Drab G10 scales done by Allen Putman (bladescales.com), along with a Titanium low ride pocket clip by "theoriginialspaceman" here on Bladeforums. Great pocket clips, get in line!!

Man, I need a clip like that. I'm not sure if my back pocket is deep enough, though :P

I have a ZT0350 with an acid washed blade and a mirror polish. It looks incredible.

Well, I did something kinda strange. I polished the bevel and swedge, but left all the rest stonewashed. I like the look, I'll post pictures tomorrow.
