I'm new to the forum, so please forgive me if a similar post has been put up (if it has, I havn't found it, so again, let me appologize now).I am looking at picking up two of the upper end Jag's, and have noticed alot of talk about pin replacement. Would people recommend replacing pins on brand new, just out of the box knives? I was wondering if this would be better then letting them get crapped out and fail mid-use, or crimp in the holes. Also, I noticed a post about adding the compression pins in there before adding pins. How has this held up over time? Thanks for the help. E

PS- Is anyone Driving through Portland on the way to the OR knife show? I'm a student trapped without a ride, and may be able to chip in for gas...

I posted about the tension pins, and there holding up GREAT! This is also good if you cant find any nails that fit snugly enough within the handle like i did. I usually just wait till they come loose themselves, i have never had one fly apart mid-flip, i just pull it out of my pocket and nothice the cap to one of the pins is missing, though you could just do it right out of the box, allways have one working bali on hand, you never know when you might get the ''erge''

I usually flip around with the knife until a pin cap pos out then take a trip to the machine shop to do the frankenstiening. But I am lazy if I had my way I would do it out of the box.

I suggest (especially if you do not have a file or grinder) to flip it around until it gets loose. You get a BIG appreciatrion for your new pins. guu luuck!
