Should I send it back?

So this knife is straight from the factory and it has these problems..
First problem is 2 weird scratches on the aluminum. They look much worse off camera.

Secondly, two of the pocket clip screws don't sit flat no matter how loose or tight I tighten them down.

Absolutely send it back to where you bought it from and get it swapped out. Benchmades do not normally come like that.

Did you buy it directly from them?

Yes, won't they cover this under the warranty? Considering it is a defect out of box I was thinking they would be able to fix it and send it back to me.

The first one I might let go if it's going to be a user. Second one is unacceptable.
It should be covered under warranty. Be sure to follow their process. It might of changed; but when I sent in a blade I had to fill out a warranty paper in with the knife. I would check out their website for warranty paper.

That is what I was gonna do! When I saw the screw problem it took me over the edge.

I would send it back in heartbeat. My only advice that is different from everyone else is call them and explain the issues with them and ask them the procedure for this. Also when you talk to them make sure you get the reps name that way if there is some confusion you can refer back to that person.
Keep us posted on what happens. I have heard there customer service is excellent.

Send it back and have the whole knife swapped! That looks like cross threaded clip screws which means new handle. The finish on the aluminum is unacceptable also.

That's horrible. Even if it is going to be a user, there is no reason to accept a new, and not cheap knife, like that...

The clip screws are totally unacceptable, and the finish on the scale isn't exactly what one would expect from BM. I've never had this model. Do they come in the black baggie ?

I expected to be another thread complaining about uneven grinds. The handle scratches wouldn't really bother me, but the clip screws look to be a real issue. I agree with the others. Contact Benchmade and send it back.

How close are you? I would say if you're within a couple hours drive to just take it back personally. No dealing with the mail and waiting for the knife to return.

If you cant get the screws to sit flat, the clip will be floppy. That being the case, the marks would show up on the handle as it hit up and down in travel. I'd send it back, looks like they put the wrong length screws on the clip. Out of curiosity, are all 3 clip screws the same length? If just one of them seats alright and they're the same length, they may have not tapped the screw holes correctly.

Definitely send it back! If for no other reason that the manufacturer needs to know things like that are getting by QC. So many times I think we see people accept or fix issues like this on their own, or they sell them to another buyer and the manufacturer never knows their QC failed.

If it was a user I could see letting the handle issue go. That clip though is ugly.

Todd, he's got this posted up in two places on facebook, here and who knows where else, but he hasn't answered a single person who's asked if he cross-threaded the screws himself while he was taking the clip off to see the flattened finish on the handle in the first place. I know he said he received it like that, but his pic shows one screw and description says 2 are like that and he wouldn't be able to see that there was a problem with the handle without removing the clip so he's clearly done some stuff to it. I'm not accusing him of causing the issues he's depicted, but he's sure not responded to anybody that's asked.

His blue shoes are hideous! :D

I'd like to see the screw heads on the clip...I bet they show he took them off.

Wow! Is that the same knife on his Instagram
? Looks fine there.
