Should I send it back?

Todd, he's got this posted up in two places on facebook, here and who knows where else, but he hasn't answered a single person who's asked if he cross-threaded the screws himself while he was taking the clip off to see the flattened finish on the handle in the first place. I know he said he received it like that, but his pic shows one screw and description says 2 are like that and he wouldn't be able to see that there was a problem with the handle without removing the clip so he's clearly done some stuff to it. I'm not accusing him of causing the issues he's depicted, but he's sure not responded to anybody that's asked.

Definitely send it back! If for no other reason that the manufacturer needs to know things like that are getting by QC. So many times I think we see people accept or fix issues like this on their own, or they sell them to another buyer and the manufacturer never knows their QC failed.

If it was a user I could see letting the handle issue go. That clip though is ugly.

His blue shoes are hideous! :D

I'd like to see the screw heads on the clip...I bet they show he took them off.

Firstly, the knife came out of the box with the screws counter sunk into the knife. Out of curiosity I took them out to see if I could fix them. I got one to sit a bit flatter while the other won't change. The marks under the clip are deep into the anodizing and were there out of box. Also, you don't like Nike frees?:thumbup:

Yea the marks on the handle are definitely from the pocket clip. They all come installed right hand tip up carry. So Im betting they will all have those marks once you take the clip off.

It's sad, My 940-1 Had One Screw On The clip with the same problem, I went to tighten it down and the threaded pem on the inside of the scale came loose. Now that screw just spins in place. Now I'll have to take the knife apart to hold the pem down to take the screw out to change clips....

Just an update, I sent it to Benchmade and they fixed the screw on the pocket clip. It look's like they used red locktite on the screws though:confused: They didn't fix the marks on the scale or the centering:(

Send it back on their dime. Keep sending it back till they get it right.

It should go back to the seller. If the seller was Benchmade, they should make it 100% right. If it was puchased someplace else, it should go back that seller. It looks like a knife which was returned to a resaler after being fiddled with and then just shipped out to the next customer. Highly doubtful that that knife left the factory with pocket wear marks and misaligned clip screws.

That's what it looks like to me, anyway.

It's straight from their factory. It's alright though guys, I'm just going to sell it cheap to my buddy.

the knife looks like it sat in its box underneath to many other boxes of other knives causing those scratches when it got pulled. Weather the user removed and reinstalled the clip screws does not matter when it comes to warranty repair. It does not seem that he did I believe him when he says that is how it came I have seen this before on Griptilians so I know it does happen. As suggested above do not bother emailing Benchmade as it takes days for them to respond if you get a response at all. Call them explain everything, get the associates name and follow their instructions. That should result in a turn around time twice as fast if not faster than attempting the process by email as I learned when I sent in my 710 for repair....good luck
