Should I Send It In?

'Scuse the gaps in my knowledge here, but I was just assuming the brass and aluminum pommels would be made the same way.....that's why it seemed so odd to me that the BRs would show so many more anomalies.

Then again.....maybe I've had or seen some aluminum ones that were not so perfect either......who knows?

You raise a good point. I went and checked some with aluminum pommels that I have. A 120,119, and another 102. I would have to say that while they are not perfectly symmetrical, they are closer to being symmetrical than their brass counterparts.

I realize that my sample size is very small but it does appear that the brass pommels are more inconsistent.

I also have to say that I am happy with the knives, and just considered it a common trait to these models.

I don't have any brass, but the two 120's and one 119 I have are all biased towards the right...(like the pic Rocinante posted)...

(Isn't it interesting that just about every thread here gets Buck owners running to their collections to see if theirs is like the one posted???) :D

I noticed that too. Mine all look like the one in the picture (biased to the right), but to different degrees.

I have some older 120s and a 102 and a 119 that are all ok.

It could be that this is related to WHEN the knife was made.

The BRs I've seen have all been made in the last few years.

I think mine is bad enough that they would replace it.

So.....Joe H. Are you around today?

Hey Rocky...
So, have ya decided whatcha gonna do with that pup yet? Just curious.

I was sitting here at my command center and looked down at my fixed blade EDC rotation. Can't see any 1xx series that are off.

That's a nice bundle of Bucks ya got there!

I'm waiting to see if Joe will assure me that they will replace the pommel.

If they might try to grind the right side to match the left.......well, I don't see how there would be much left of the pommel.

We'll see.

I'll make sure they replace the pommel. Normally we would just grind the existing one to match but if you want a new one, make sure you put that in the note to me.
Take care,

Naw......its just got to get from Minnesota to Idaho--no Customs/Homeland Security checks yet on the South Dakota and Wyoming borders (I hope) and I'm sure it will come back swiftly and fixed up nice.
