  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Should I use 440c ?

If you haven't already done so, watch a bunch of youtube videos. Here's one from Walter Sorrels that might help.

ah ok, i was just planning to use a homemade forge and hammer ( and then some files, a small engraving tool and some whetstones) so ill stick to the easier stuff then ty
If you plan to forge, stick to the simp,e steels, like 1075/1080/1084, 8670, 15n20, 5160 etc. Don’t go to 1095/W1/W2 unless you plan to send out for heat treat. Any of the air hardening steels or high alloy/stainless steels are not well suited to beginner forging, or backyard heat treat.
