Should I wait!? Spyderco steels?

Should I just pony up on the Manix 2 M390?

So my next question being relevant to the topic of this post.. how did you know/ find this information ? I called DLT she didn’t even know when they would be available and couldn’t give me a date.
 
I don't recommend chasing sprint products, but... the manix 2 in M390 I have seems to be heat treated noticeably better than my other knives in similar steels. It sharpens very simply with no noticeable burr, I seem to be able to get it sharper than other knives with similar edge angles and finishes, and it has held an edge through cardboard cutting much better than something from ZT, for example. I think the recent runs of M390 sprints have been run very hard (some tested 61-62 HRC and have done very well in controlled cutting tests).
 
I wouldn't pay a flippers mark up for that. Spyderco does sprints and exclusives all the time as evidenced in this thread. Something else will come along that tickles your fancy. But...if you have the money to waste, treat yourself!
 
Get off the bench and grab one from dlttrading on Mar 19 as bobo recommended. Great steel.
No matter what, there's always a "better" deal coming just after you buy one...
 
Definitely don't pay mark-up prices for one, that's for sure. There are so many M390/20CV runs from Spyderco that anyone who wants one should be able to get one. Just set your calendar and check the website the moment the knife drops.

I received an email notification from dlttrading on Tuesday and I thought I saw it posted by dlttrading or by another member here. Also if you check dlttrading facebook page they posted an announcement May 13.
 
Just because there's a new steel that is getting driven up on the secondary market, it doesn't mean all the other steels are garbage. We live in an era where all modern steels used in knives from reputable companies will do everything you need in a knife. Knife design and execution are vastly more important than steel type. The primary drawback for not having the latest popular steel is that you don't get as many likes when you post pictures on social media.
 
Even though I don’t have lots of posts, I’ve been lurking on this website for 8 years. I do lots of research on steels I’ve spent without a doubt days worth of hours on blade forums and other sites thanks to insomnia going over people who know a lot more than me like ankerson, the mastiff, big Chris and knarfeng and many others information, experience and thoughts .. I understand what steels are what, how they like to be sharpened, how they act. I’m not out just chasing a sprint run I’ve wanted a Manix 2 in m390, CTS-204p, cmp-20cv. That’s my favorite knife and for my rudimentary but refined sharpening skills the steel I want , where I want to be.

In that case I think you should get the variation you can while they're being sold on the secondary more readily
