Should the dodo lock move??

My dodo stuck this morning letting the ball bearing lock roll around between the g10. I had to force the spring to pop back out two diff times..
Now its working ok again and opening and closing smooth but when closed (i dont remember if it was like this before) I can move the ball and spring a little bit left to right and right to left. is this normal?
Its very solid and nothing moves when its open, but closed it does, Is this something I should be concerned about?

It sound to me like there is some grit on the spring follower (the plunger that runs down the center of the coil springs) that is hanging things up. I'd suggest giving it a bath in hot soapy water, rinse in clear water and blow it out with compressed or canned air, then dry lube.
