Should we start a new sub forum for people to complain about prices?

I have a very simple view on this:
If I need a cutting tool I can get one for a very affordable price. It will cut what needs to be cut.
I don't pay for the ability to cut something, but for a hobby & my imagined wish list. (looks, steel, ergos...etc)

--> Hobbys are always as expensive as you are willing (and able) to afford. You know this, the knifemaker knows this, the vendor knows this as well...

I think a prerequisite to complaining about the cost of a knife should be the complainer has to try making one himself first.

Especially a folder.....since most of these complaints regard folding knives.
I like this idea, everyone should make a knife!
After entering the arena...... and spending 10-20 hours on a knife....... I think most knives should cost More... I'm surprised they don't.

I made throwing knives and big choppers out of old leaf springs as a kid. They were pretty awful but they looked like knives and more or less functioned like knives. I probably could have bought a knife for the cost of all the cutoff wheels and grinding disks and bandaids I went through.

Someday when I have time I will make a knife properly We have m uh of the stuff needed at our makerspace.

I do believe there will come a time when those that think nothing of dropping 300-500 dollars on a knife will come to an end.. 🤔
There was a time when I had a pocket full of extra cash on me all the time..
Then I retired!! It will happen to all sooner or later..;)
John :)

Or, if inflation keeps going the way it has been lately, $300 will buy you a Mora.

It's the same problem everywhere, here too we have a group of knife auctions and as soon as the prices don't go up. The critics fuse
I say that everything is open to criticism or questionable except the prices. The work of others is priceless ...

I buy a knife as a tool, won't pay more than I have too. I don't buy knives because of the name stamped on them.

Complaining by enough people will influence companies' pricing; Not buying by enough people will bring the prices down.

Should we create a subforum for people who complain other people who complain?

Complaining will not effect pricing one iota if people are still buying. Sometimes raising prices creates more desire for the product. See Grey Goose vodka, for example.

That is a big IF. If I am new to a knife and I see many people are complaining about its price (i.e., not worth the price), that will certainly affect my purchase decision.
