If you feel as I do then you will answer the above question YES! If this is the case you should email FOX News and ask them to stop attacking the TSA decision to allow us to carry tiny knives on air flights.

Of course I do, I used to travel all over the world for work back in the 90s and no one would blink an eye when I worked my pockets at the metal detectors and 3 or 4 knives would go in the bucket.

Back then security would admire and ask about the knives, especially the tactical models back then which were just becomin' popular at the time.

Well of to finish my coffee and send an email to FOX, thanks for the heads up.

I don't personally have a need to carry a knife or other bladed implement (multitool w/ blade) ON a plane. But I do want to have it with me when I get to my destination, and if I'm taking a short trip where all I need is one carryon bag then I have no way of magically teleporting the knife without taking it on the plane.

Mainly I'd just be happy to not have to worry about losing my little SAK classic that's in my little first aid kit and my Leatherman Squirt that I always have in a pocket if I forgot about them before going to the airport.

1. Absolutely. Mainly because I travel light &/or don't want to risk theft w/ checking them.
2. More people should realize IF...if if if someone pulls a knife on them all they have to do is throw something heavy &/or kick that jackass square in the peepee & repeat something similar til they're asleep.

That made me chuckle.

of COURSE you should be able to carry a knife on a plane. To ban knives, is to put the entire plane at risk. It is noteworthy, that the unions were the ones that forced the knife ban, and they are the ones fighting the new regulations now.
Frankly, I say ban unions, not knives.

I never really started flying until after the knife ban and other restrictions were in place. I don't need a knife during flight, and with the confined space and frequent turbulence it wouldn't be safe to take one out anyway. But still, it'd be nice to have my knife in my carry-on where it's safe from checked baggage theft.

This is a no brainer. The common sense side of this issue seems to escape many in the media and it gets tiresome. Perhaps if they brought on some guests like A.G. Russell and/or Sal Glesser to enlighten themselves there may be hope yet.

My answer is 100% yes we should be able to carry on planes.

Its not that I NEED a knife on a plane, but I like the ability of taking them with me on a trip without checking them in my larger bag.

Knowing there in my carry on right at my feet gives me a huge piece of mind.

Plus the added protection of course.

Of course we should be allowed to carry on a modest size knife. It has nothing to do with plane safety at all since 9-11 was a one shot deal. Yes, 9-11 was a horrible thing, but it will never be repeated again. In a way, the terrorists shot themselves in the foot. Before 9-11, a hijacking was where the people got taken someplace, sat for a while in unpleasant conditions, then were released when political demands were met. Then came 9-11 where the entire world watched as everyone died. The one plane where cell phone calls informed them of the fate of the other hijacked planes, courageous people like Todd Beamer went into action to retake the plane, armed or not.

Now, if some nut case with a box cutter announces a hijacking, he's going to get the ever loving dog poo stomped out of him. If they try to light their undies on fire they get the dog poo stomped out of them. People are aware now of the new meaning and repercussions of a hijacking. They won't stand for it. A few little pen knives or box cutters are not going to make a difference.

I've always thought the perfect solution to the hijacking thing was simple. In every seat pocket, along with the Sky mall shopping magazine and safety sheet, should be a 2 foot section of pick ax handle. When taxiing out, the flight attendant giving the safety talk about the exits, the oxygen masks dropping drown, should include instructions that if you see anyone trying to light off their BVD's or tennis shoes, to use the club to meat the ever loving dog poo out of them. Heck, they can make an incentive game out of it. The very first person to hit the would be terrorist gets all his money back on the cost of the flight. The next three people to land blows gets 1000 bonus frequent flier miles added to their account. Heck, you're gonna have a whole plane load of people clutching their clubs watching everyone around them for a false move. You really think some idiot is going to pull a box cutter and announce a hijacking? Yes, I am serious.

I just can't see where a Case peanut or a SAL clasic is going to jeopardize a flight.

Carl.

All of this backup is great, BUT, it means little unless you take the time to help get FOX News off our back and on our side. PLEASE, email FOX News and let them know how we feel!

^^^ I did just that before I posted. I may or may not have mentioned the possibility of contacting you or a few others for some insight. Hope that is ok with you.:D

I recall the emergency of the plane that landed on the river in New York a few years back. The sinking plane threatened to take the life raft full of passengers with it into the icy waters because nobody had a knife to cut the rope. Passengers screamed at the rescue team asking them to toss them a knife to cut the raft free from the sinking plane before it was too late. Yes knives should be allowed on planes, not only are they tools, but a valuable tool that can save lives during an emergency.

Those idiots at Fox News never cease to amaze. I would elaborate, but I don't want to get political or curse. I shall bite my tongue on this part.

I don't see why knives are a big issue. I have said it repeatedly, a study boot is more dangerous than a knife. I can see not allowing huge knives or tacticool crap, but banning stuff like a large SAK is stupid. Non locking blades should be allowed. Non threatening blades should be allowed. Where did common sense go?

A.G., Fox has no real say in the matter, so why would I bother sending them an email, or even care what they say:confused:

Email the owners of the Airlines, and not Fox. They are the ones trying to get this overturned.

This +10. Or having to check a bag at all, since now they charge for that "privilege."

If you want to stop another hijacking from ever happening, just issue everyone a KaBar as they board. TSA is dumb.
