Shoulder bag recommendation?

This damnable thread had me ordering a Finnish gas mask bag a little while ago.

I caught these Fatboy GTG Versipacks on super clearance and bought a green and a black.

Here's a homemade murse I put together from Condor and Fox gear.

This finnish gas mask bag looks handy as hell! And for 25 SEK I can't really go wrong... for you yanks that would be $3.77 :D I think this is the first item I've ever seen in Sweden that's actually as cheap or cheaper than buying something from the states.

I carry a Timbuk2 Messenger bag (X Small)

I use mine every day
Nice looking and tough and rain resistant
Can take it any where and does not look tactical
Mine is in black
Wears very well

They have X small, all the way to E large
X Small is good and the Small holds alot

Looking at the Maxpedition messenger bag as a woods carry bag for alot of gear

I have this one and like it a lot. It's oilskin. It's just a basic one compartment haversack. There is a slot in the flap where the fabric is doubled over. I really like the natural look of the material.

I've been using a BlackHawk! Battle Bag lately. A bit more pricey but works great for day hiking gear.

So I ended up getting this one from the Sportsmen's Guide for about $20 shipped. Actually, its a pretty good bag. I like it.
Someone mentioned keeping a bag small enough to prevent everything and the kitchen sink from getting thrown in it. That is a good plan, though
I still managed to toss alot of stuff in there. The only problem is that the strap length is made for an average Chinese soldier I think, and not a 6'1" barrel chested American.
The bag sits uncomfortably right up in my armpit. So I've going to be getting some nylon webbing and greatly lengthen the strap.

I've got the chance to used the Finnish gas bag some and I am thoroughly impressed! For 49 SEK you can't really go wrong. It's extremely sturdy and I love the waist strap option. Today it held my GB Wildlife Hatchet, a mora, some dog treats and the fatwood I managed to collect and had room to spare :)

Highly recommended! Yet another great common man item I found through BF!

I used to have a Maxpedition Versipack Jumbo that I really liked for woods walking, but then my wife started using it for a purse and won't give it back. I don't want it back, now that it turned into a purse, anyways.

:D :D :D

Nice looking bag :) Shame about the strap, I've had the same problem with bags. Most of time I just use a daypack slung on one shoulder. Got my current one 10 years ago and I use it practically everyday, do my shopping with it, and taking it hiking tomorrow. Cost me £10 Sterling in a sale. I keep thinking I should get something else, but it works pretty well for me.

Thanks Codger,I went and picked up a Finnish gas mask bag as well today on flea bay.

Eneded up getting it from a UK seller since the U.S. sellers were charging almost as much as the cost of the bag to ship WITHIN the U.S..

The UK seller charged me 2.50 via small packet airmail. Go figure. Anyway, for about 17 bucks, how can one go wrong for such a manly murse.

I have a Frost River pack (The Bushcrafter Jr.) and it is a seriously impressive pack. I would highly recommend anything they make.

I've also heard nothing but great things about Bison Gear packs, and I recently ordered one of their haversacks. Available in wool, fleece and bucksuede, solid colors and camo. Made to order:

I also have a Maxped Jumbo which is a great choice for an EDC as well. The fabric Maxped uses is a bit noise for hunting though, which is what I got the Bison Gear for.
