Now before you all get to arguing about coping blades vs pen blades vs.... I want to clarify that I mean what is your specific favorite blade. For example using pen blades....the Bunny knife has one of my favorite pen blades, especially when compared to the pony jack for example. But when it comes to pen blades by far my favorite is actually the pen blade on a case copperhead. just perfectly sized and proportional to the handle., straight and inline with the handle, its just looks great.

Now I will say that I prefer a coping blade but I do appreciate a well done pen blade.

a did cheat a little that secondary on the kabarlo is actually more of a miniature clip...but close enough 🤣

so what's your favorite secondary type and what is your favorite one and why?

The sheepsfoot blade on a Case Stockman is my favorite secondary blade. Why? Because they're incredibly useful in different ways than the primary clip-point. I'm constantly messing with my water lines and a sheepsfoot works very well for cutting/slicing open plastic poly. And they're great for opening packages.

ETA: Pretty clear to see which one has been used more ;-)

One of my most USED secondary “blades” has got to be a caplifter 😅 but my FAVORITE secondary is the full size spey on this GEC 74.

Ooo that's a great one. Full sized spey blades are probably one of the most polarizing things in all of knifedom.

I would have to say the secondary on the Case Tony Bose Eureka Jack for me…

I really need to find one of those. I've been close to pulling the trigger on one a few times but never had. How thin is the tip ground in it?

Since this Primble is the knife that I will judge all knives against from now on.... I'm going to go with a razor sharp, thinner pen blade.

I prefer the main blade to be a straight edge, so if it has a secondary then a good pen blade works perfectly. The main blade keeps a good working edge and that backup pen is always a razor.

Can't beat it.

For me it really depends on the knife. The copperhead I have has a fairly thin ground clip point main blade and a pretty stout spear blade. But with a straight edge I would probably like a pretty stout main blade and a thin ground secondary

this will come as no surprise to those who know me

Haha I definitely get this. I broke down two trappers now trying to rip out that spey blade. One of these days when I have a better selection of pins stock I'll put one back together. Lol. The other didn't survive.

I have become one spring guy. Usually one blade but more just one spring.

That's why I love this congress pattern. Two great blades, a nice shape and one spring! Best of both worlds.

I've carried a buck 110/112 enough that even normal two spring knives feel thin to me. 🤣

I prefer single-blade knives. Other than SAKs, I only have a couple handfuls of traditionals with multiple blades, and only a couple I'm likely to keep. Having said that...

I had always preferred a secondary to be a spear/ pen. Until I picked up a Bose/ Case Eureka Jack. I'm liking that small Wharncliffe as a secondary. haven't decided yet which of the two I prefer most.
