Show me your JBF Champlin

Here is a JBF Champlin Hawbill. The tang reads "J.B.F. Champlin" over "Warranted" in two straight lines.

So far there have been only two photos which had any GEC branded knives in them, but they had Champlins as well. The second post had both, and the OP was so pleased with it that he sent the poster a PM about it. Some people don't have time to take a new photo if they already have a good one which displays the needed knives. I think this thread is right on point.

Sorry, but there are only two posters who show actual JBF Champlin knives, Mike Galvanic 1882, and photoman, all the rest are repros, but perhaps it is repros that the OP wishes to see. Anybody can put a mark of a long gone company on a blade, Parker did it with many old company names, does that make those knives made by the long defunct company?? Thanks photoman for showing some other real ones!! C'mon Mike post some of your real nice originals!!

I had a jigged bone GEC made 85 and foolishly sold it as I could not bring myself to use it. Picked up an ebony 85 from a member here who had a EO notxh added and the pen turned into a sheepsfoot. The Eureka is a favorite.

Absolutely post the originals but I can't get enough of the fantastic GEC JBF Champlins as well. Derek and Mike choose GEC for a reason...they make them with the same quality and attn to detail as the originals:thumbup:

The pics of the new teardrops sure has me wishing I had known about them in time to get one in ebony...love the pattern, and the propeller shield is perfect for it (I have a few antique teardrops with propeller shields). If they do another run, I'd definitely get in line. And if they did another run using the old rosewood, that would be a grail knife for me.

Thanks Mike!! I really like the ivory button hook knife, and of course your pearls are exquisite!! I see you haven't added the razor I sold you to the page yet.
Best, Gino

Hey Gino yes you are correct. Derek will add them to the site in time. I will take pics of some of them and post them here though. That is if you know who will let me have them for a photo shoot, she gets all the razors!!

Here is a JBF Champlin over Little Valley carving knife and fork with fancy ferrules. I don't know what the handles are made of.

Those Eureka's are some of the most handsome knives I've seen posted on this forum to date, holy smokes.

In that reclaimed rosewood especially, absolutely beautiful.

Both vintage and new are fantastic. I greatly regret missing out on the reissues, but it’s still fun to envy. Good stuff! Thank you.

I have to say, also owning the JBF Champlin Tear Drop SFO, that it is by far and away the best execution of an older knife that I have ever seen or owned. The jigging, look and feel is second to none in my opinion. I wish that GEC would make some more jigging like these have.

Thanks Perry, it was fun sitting with Bill trying to decide the right jigging for our first knife but Bill was very patient with me and believe me I can be a pain when it comes to detail. GEC makes by far the best knives today, in my opinion. If you are looking for older pattern folders they can't be beat!

I still can't believe how lucky I got!! A fellow member Contacted me the same day I added a GEC #92 Eureka Jack to my Looking to buy list. He told me he had a very special Eureka Jack that he could sell me and that I could have it for the price he payed. That was all I needed to hear I was in lol. You see this guy has some of the most beautiful traditional knives I ever saw so I knew if it was one of his it would be a great example of the pattern. As it turned out it mot definitely was. As im sure you have already guessed It was a JBF Champlin & Son Eureka Jack. However that wasn't all as it turns out it's not one of the one hundred knives that were built in 2013 to make 50 set's but rather it's one of the 15 knives Bill Howard made last year out of what was left from the first run. It's a beautiful 92 Eureka Jack in Rosewood Handles
And I can't wait to get it in my hands lol. Your kindness is very much appreciated Alan. Thank you :D

Legendary stuff, Brett.

Thank Will it is my pleasure buddy. I will admit that it was by mistake though. It was late and I thought it was the more current Eureka thread. :D Oh well. ;)
