show me your sharpeners

Yes they are 1/2" x 1/4 x 6" Congress finishing stones. They are what inspired me to suggest someone try the Ruby triangle stones in the sharpmaker for reprofiling.

sorry but I cheat :)

those I dont sharpen with that belt....
also have a cardboard wheel setup on a variable speed bench grinder..and an Edge Pro , assorted flat stones , sharpmaker.... but the Bader does 95% of the sharpening...though lately I have taken to sharpening with the 8" contact wheel instead of the flat platen.

when away from home, I most often use the diamond file on my Leatherman; also keep a coarse/fine diafold in the truck

Wow, pretty nice rig! I lack the space, and moreover, the cash, to have a setup like that. I'll have to muddle thru with something smaller. Although I'd like to get an 8" or 9" bench grinder for paper wheels. That I could make room for. And afford!:D

ive been sharpening by hand with a stone since i was 10. Don't want to brag but can shave with every blade i own

NJ: Is that a buck honemaster, where did you get it, I can't find one anywhere?

i use the cardboard wheels that john mentioned. i sometimes use my belt sander to work up a burr that i remove with the cardboard buffing wheel. there are knockoff wheels from the origonal ones that arent worth the money saved, john will tell you this. when i used to hunt all i used was a single ceramic stick to touch up my edge. anyone wanting information about the cardboard wheels can send me an email or check out the links at my website.

Good eyes HMC, :D

I've had the Honemaster for probably around 30 years or so ... they've been disco'd from what I understand. Wish I could help you find one though I haven't used mine since I was in high school (about that long ago unfortunately). There are other good systems available that are similar though none spring to mind right now. :o

I sharpen cheap knives with cheap sharpeners like smiths brand sharpeners, then I sharpen ym better knives with the sharpmaker, but when I mean business and want to really put a nice edge on my best knives and users I break out my edgepro apex....

I just got this Machine and it's Awesome!!! I went to the dollar store and bought some $1 China Knives to practice with and got them "Shaving Sharp" in about 3 minutes each!! I have been sharpening knives since I was a Kid,but never knew that the sanding belt Machines were so good!! If you want a great Machine, this is it, after just 2 days, I am getting pretty good with this Machine! I start out with 220 Grit and then strop with the leather belt.....Wow...the hairs pop off your Arm!! And NO, I am not connected to this Canadian Company, whatsoever. Hope this helps someone.
