I am not a fan of the bulbous type spear blade (which widens toward the tip) for a pocket knife, although they work well in the field (think Nessmuk).
But slender spear blades are great for general purpose cutting, and getting into tight places. Here are some of the ones I use regularly.
Cattle pattern knives used to be more common, and the majority were produced with spear blades. Here are some WWII era examples from Imperial and Camillus.
this is the most imposing spearpoint in my collection, beautifully hand ground from Diefenthal, Solingen. I think it fits this discussion, because it is an archetypical Buck 110 clone style knife, but with a spear instead of the typical clip. I don't know why I sold this, I'll probably never find another one.
