Show me your tigerhide

I'm pondering snatching that batac le in the busse shop. I'm not a fan of the tigerhide handles in the picture, but I know micarta handles tend to vary from knife to knife. So I have a challenge for you hogs, Please post pics of all your tigerhide and try to convince me to buy that batac.

I sanded one down like Jaxx. It's at Ban's shop getting a full-height grind.


Very little-to-no oil to get it to be very black and very orange. Of course, a 400-grit sanding does that to Tigerhide.

And I wonder why the black in Tigerhide can't be reproduced in black micarta. Why is black micarta green no matter what???? Ah well. I don't think I've got much in black micarta anymore. LOL

I agree. I refer the texture of micarta to g10, but black g10 looks way cooler.

Yes, the BATACLE has mags, or the TAC equivalent of mags. Now just buy it already! My BATACLE is one of my all-time favorite knives. You never hear anyone say "I wish I could get rid of this worthless BATACLE". They are truly awesome. It's big, it's heavy, it's shiny, it's totally indestructible. 100%, utter and complete bad-assitude.

That said, the Tigerhide is kinda underwhelming. Mine (#788) is very drab, to be honest. But it does undergo an interesting transformation. If you hold it/ fondle it for a while, the tigerhide darkens and looks nicer. Let go of it for a while and watch it lighten up before your very eyes. Fascinating, hours of fun!

Yes, the LE's have mags... and to answer your question posted on a sale thread since the Seller appears to be offline... Snakeskin is not offered in Mag size ever, as far as I know, so the BATAC's with snakeskin are all standard sized grips. That's a bummer, 'cause I love the snakeskin too. However, I should mention that even in standard size, the Snakeskin micarta cost an additional charge when ordered on the BATAC's over the other standard micarta handles.
