Show me your tigerhide

Wow. those badgers look awesome. When I get mine I don't plan on making it a safe queen. Those wouldn't fit in one of the standard leatherman sheaths for sale on the BCS right?

I bought one of the Leatherman Badger sheaths from BCS... my LE fits fine. A little tight at first but works great now.

Oh... and use it... you'll like it MUCH better. ;) :D

Thanks for all the info. That BATAC LE will be mine come payday... I hope they are still there on the 14th. I cant wait.

Another poor soul affected with the INFI addiction. Just have your company direct deposit those paychecks in Jerry's account. You're finished now!:D

My best TH pic, with a bit of mineral oil to help things along.

Man, i hate you guys always posting these great pics while i wait for my first Infi to arrive. Mineral oil is a new trick i hadn't heard of. Let me ask a newb question --- does it mess with the grippiness when wet or does the mineral oil soak in fairly well? Some of these things are glowing!

It soaks in pretty well. It will also dry out over time too.

I am pretty convinced that the oil only reduces the level of surface oxidation. I don't think there is any actual penetration into the micarta.

ResinRib needs to weigh in on this.

Excuse my ignorance but I never understood why they call it tigerhide but then I don't see color too well.

I'm sure it doesn't penetrate the micarta resin....but will be absorbed by the canvas or linen fibers that are exposed (i.e., not fully covered in micarta). From what I can tell the tiger hide canvas has more exposed fibers than any other type of micarta....hence the dull coloring. As a point of comparison if you look at most of the snakeskin handles they don't benefit much from mineral oil baths because the coloring is brilliant already....because the micarta is almost completely absorbed into the fibers of the canvas.

Piglet Ruff Cobb recommended using vasoline, I haven't tried it, but he claims it works as well as mineral oil, is food safe and lasts longer.

Not terribly obvious, but there are black and gold/yellow colored layers. Which by magic coincidence just happen to be the Busse corporate colors.
